Evening all. Thinking of giving the vaping another go, but not sure about what strength nicotine to start on. I will be starting on 100% VG this time, as you recall last time the PG might have not been right for me. Also this time I will not over-vape, as I was doing the last time. I will pace myself this time. I was on approximately 40-50 cigarettes per day ( or 6 cigs plus 9 pipes) but have long since cut down!! So would I need at least 24mg nicotine strength juice??? I'm still on the occasional pipe and cigarette, but only about 5 tobacco smokes per day now in total. Also ( and this confused me big time the last time!!!) how long do I vape for and how much. I am disabled so home mostly, so it is very easy to chain-vape without interruptions all day, so how would I limit myself to minimal vaping?? Just put it down after 5 minutes??? Or only vape 1.6ml per day??? I was a heavy smoker so I do not find it easy to stop!!!...lol. Sorry for all the questions again and thank you all for any advice about vaping. Cheers...:whiteflag:

Unless PG causes you issues, you might be better off with a PG/VG mix. VG is good for vapour production but tends to mute flavours a bit and PG is a better carrier for flavour.

Nic strength can be pretty subjective... largely depends on your own vaping style and how much you need to feel satiated. If 'hand to mouth' action is important to you, you might be better off using a lower nic strength so you can vape more often without feeling ill effects.

Everyone's got their own personal sweet spot and what works for someone else might not work as well for you, but that said, maybe try starting off using 12-18mg per ml and see how it goes? If you feel like you're getting too much nic then you drop your nic level a bit/ not enough nic, raise the level a bit.

As far as I can see, those are the 2 options... vape low nic and more often or higher nic and less often. Just experiment a bit and find out what works for you.

There is no right or wrong way to vape really... only what works for you and what doesn't.

Good luck. ;)

Hi adam. Glad your feeling confident about trying again. I cant offer much advice about vaping, but did pretty much chain smoke stinkies when i was away from home and living in a hotel (boredom). Was so shocked when i realised i only had 3 left outa 20 having only got them 3hrs before.

Anyhow, on a normal day (not working away) it was 10-20 stinkies. Im on 18mg nic with my vape and i do chain vape at home only stopping when i start to feel sick or have to charge my gear. I have noticed a difference with the different companies ive use in the juice. Some taste weaker than others so it is trial and error, but when you find a company / brand you like, you will know and notice you are getting what you need from your vape.

Have a look at the reviews that people have left and go in with an open mind, you may be suprised at what you discover.

As your at home all day it may be worth doing some random online course to take your mind off things.

Ps dont forget to experiment with vaping. Big puff little puffs. Cook the juice a second before you puff, dont cook it before puffing. Keep twisting and fiddling with ur atom to make sure your wicks or whatever system you use are coated. If you start to lose flavour top up, gently move atom side to side to mix old with new and this will mix it up and make it nice again.

You will find a way that suits you :)

Hi ADAM, It depends on what caused your problem first time round really, but i think if you start around 12mg, and see how you get on, if you feel like it then you can raise or lower the level, also find a flavour you like that isnt tobacco that might help with the urge to chain vape...

its trial and error at the start buddy i started out on the 12mg then felt it was far too weak so i jumped up to 24 knocked me sick now i've found my level at 18mg and its all good now

I work from home, so I understand the temptation to sit and vape your head off all day. I have anxiety disorder, so I soon start feeling funny if I've had too much nicotine, so it's not been a problem for me, but I can definitely see how it could be. What if you limited yourself to vaping outside as you did (or I did, anyway) with smoking? That way you'll only do it when the craving for nicotine is strong enough to get you off your bum and out of the back door into the cold ;-)

i was also a heavy smoker and as already said mainly through boredom. i started on 18mg and this held me fine, i put this down to wanting to quit. i have reduced to 6mg in 2 months dropping down 2 mg every time i get new juice. if it gets to the stage you feel its not enough nic then go higher till your happy... you can always reduce once your feeling ready. you may be happy to stay at a high level! the main thing is that your not smoking to be fair so dont worry if you need to get a higher nic juice... its all good :)

Its also difficult to know whether the breathlessness was a result of the vapour or maybe anxiety from either nicotine withdrawal OR too much nicotine (which is, obviously, a stimulant). However, if you've not had any problems on your recent cold turkey reduction, I'm going to guess it's not the nicotine withdrawal.
