Need an advice

Hello guys, used to vape back in 2016, used Pico with Nautilus X and it was good, but for some reason went back to fags again. I need to stop them because of Covid complications and on the market for new gadgets and juice.. everything basically, but thing has changed a little.

I was thinking to buy Pico again, but it seems like there are none left for sale in UK, so I'm torn between Pico 2, Pico LE (the black one, the rest of the line look like fingerprints magnet?), and Zelos X. If I go with Pico 2, which tank would you recommend for it? From what I've read in the last two days, Nautilus 3 and Zenith 2 are the best options for MTL? I understand that everyone have his own opinion, but all I look for is just something without leaking, everything else comes after that.. it would be nice though if I manage to find gun metal in same shade like the Pico 2.. but that's my last issue for now.

Second question would be about NIC salts.. that's something I learned about yesterday and it's a little bit confusing. I'm smoking pack a day at the moment, so I was thinking liquid with 6mg nicotine would be suitable in my case (?), but if I buy 50ml 0% shortfill the best I can do is add 20mg 10ml bottle to make it like 3mg nicotine? Is there a way to make it 6mg in 60ml bottle? Also about the salts.. if I use 20mg 10ml salt with the 50ml 0% base, would it be stronger (satisfying) nicotine wise or it will have the same result is normal 20mg non salt nicotine?

Ha, just found that there are 36mg nic shots.. so I can make 6mg from the 50ml bottle which is good.. so in your opinion should I go with the normal nicotine or nic salts?

Uhh it is getting confusing again.. quote form a website selling nic salts:
"Rated at a 20mg nicotine strength the way the nicotine salts work will actually provide a 36mg nicotine hit."

So does we double the nicotine strength for nic. salts?

Your nicotine levels should reflect your tolerance, wattage and style. Higher nic might be fine for MTL but not for DTL. Remember to lower it significantly for DTL.

Pico's are sometimes still available in the UK if you keep your eyes peeled and search deeply, but you'll probably have to look to China.

i cant help much with mtl kits as i only have 2 that are 7 years old.
i mainly dtl now with all my other kits.

nic salts are not suited for everyone. i tried a couple when they first came out but not my cup of tea. they are much smoother even though higher nicotine strength so if you are after a throat hit then you wont get them from salts.
i was on 20-30 cigs a day and gave up overnight with 18mg nic. then the first direct to lung tank hit the market and i dropped to 3mg within a few weeks and stuck there ever since.

im not sure what country you are in but here in the uk the max nicotine legally sold is 20mg max in 10ml bottles

yes you can make a shortfill 6mg but its a bit of a faff. you will have to remove 10ml of the juice to make room and then add 2 10ml bottles of nic. this will weaken the flavour though as shortfills were mainly designed at 3mg.

there are a few suppliers that help you out with this and manabush (link on post 1 above) is one of them. you can buy shortfill with only 40ml and the concentrate is stronger so as to make up when you add 2 nic shots.

Claiming 20mg of Nic Salts will provide a 36mg nicotine hit is pure advertising nonsense. Apparently salt nicotine is absorbed into your system easily and gives a faster nicotine hit (but I suspect that is also an advertising fantasy) as I can't say I've noticed - I've noticed if I have insufficient nicotine I find it unsatisfying and it causes me to chain vape, if the nicotine strength is too high it will give me a slight headache and feel dizzy and nauseous.

Nic salts will be smoother on the throat, however there is little or no throat hit - Freebase gives a throat hit but (for some) can feel a little harsher.

I suspect you may be confusing 20mg Nic Salt MTL juices (which are flavoured, contain 20mg Nic per ml and are ready to vape in MTL atomisers) with unflavoured 10ml nic shots that are 18mg and are designed to mix with shortfills at the rate of 1 nic shot per 50ml of juice to provide 3mg.

I prefer DL vaping and stick to 3mg shortfill juices at home, however, when I'm outdoors I vape MTL for convenience (a single tank will last me ages, I only need to carry a single 18650 mod in my pocket instead of a brick of a mod, don't want to chuck clouds in public) - if my preferred vape was MTL I would lower my nic to 10ml as taking more than 5 or 6 hits of 20mg will make my head spin, but I stick with 20mg as a few hits will give me a quick nic hit - instead of potentially chain vaping for enjoyment when out in public.

I don't know what tank you intend using or if it's DL or MTL-

If you intend to vape MTL I recommend you just buy two separate 10ml bottles of pre-made, ready to vape juices - one 18mg Freebase and one 20mg Nic Salt. You will quickly find out which you prefer. It they are too strong Nic wise - by a single 12mg Freebase and a10mg nic salt juice.

If you chose to vape DL I would buy a single 50ml shortfill juice and nic salt to make up 3mg juice. If you find this isn't a strong enough concentration you could add another nic shot to increase the nic but this could dilute the flavour, another alternative is to add a similar/same flavour premade 18 or 20mg nic salt juice instead of a nic shot which will boost the nic without diluting the flavour too much. With DL juices I find little difference in using Nic Salt of Freebase nicotine and will use either.

Welcome to potv. Neither the Nautilus 3 or the Zenith II will fit on the original Pico which is now very hard to find. You can get the Pico Plus, Pico 25 and Pico 2 mods from Le Petitvapoteur, the Nautilus 3 will fit on all those but I think the Zenith only on the Pico 2, the Le Pico will take either.

I have the Nautilus 3 and it's a very good tank that, touch wood, has never leaked on me. I'm sure others can tell you about the Zenith and other mtl stock coil tanks.

The zenith tanks are good ,ive never had one that leaks and are good for flavour.I prefer the .8 coil and they're good for 50 vg up to 70vg liquid.You can get 6mg shortfills from bigjuiceuk,plenty of choice on there.

Just wanted to say thank you guys for all the advises!
Bought device and batteries, few liquids with 12 and 18 strength and will not play for now with mixing stuffs I don't really understand yet.. for now the aim of the project is to get off the cigarettes.
Thanks MrDj for the Manabush tip, I will definitely try their 30ml for 6mg nic liquids after i finish with the 12mg juices, great find!

Hi, thanks for the link, I was thinking to buy the black one, look nice and not a fingerprints magnet, but after some digging I've found the the body under the "leather" is actually made of .. not a good idea to post here of what I guess..
