So received the single coil drop solo today. Impressed at how easy it was to set up and vape.

Came with supplied prebuilt coils. The first one I fired up to see it glow and it burnt straight through and snapped.

The second I was more careful. It comes in at 0.29. can anyone recommend the right wattage as I want to test but not have the same result as the first coil and have another blister on my finger. That bugger was hot .I'm currently at 35watts don't know how high I can go

you shouldn’t glow coils. and definitely don’t touch it with your finger.

definitely don’t go full pelt at 35w. pulse it lightly, if anything. it’s bad for the coil and might create harmful compounds also.

Before you wick it pulse it very lightly at around 10W. You'll see it change colour but it shouldn't be glowing bright orange. Should only take a few pulses to burn off any residue. If you see any hotspots appear gently rake over the coil (not whilst firing it!) with a flathead screwdriver and then check if they're gone. You may also need to space the wraps out a little. Again, use a flathead screwdriver for this and gently pry them apart. Once you're happy with it add the cotton and saturate fully with your liquid. As for wattage, start at around 15-20W and work upwards 5W at a time until you're happy with how it vapes.

Thanks pal. So spacing the coil is so the juice seeps through under the coil better ?

How long do I expect coil to last and what is the signs of replacing it.
Also cotton how much is to much hanging down into tank
Sorry for all the questions

I thought that was largely debunked, excluding nickel, and titanium wire, which should (titanium) never be used imo.

This is the original article, no?

@Robbyt80 Spacing the wraps is to help with hotspots (squeezing them together with ceramic tipped tweezers can help too) but you don't always need to do it if you're not getting hotspots.

Change it when it either tastes funky or looks gunked up. How long it will last will depend a lot on what liquid you're using. Could be a few days, could be over a week. Sweet liquids will gunk up a lot quicker for example. You can clean them though, by removing the cotton, rinsing it hot water, dry burning (again, pulsing gently at 10W), brush off any residue and then rinse again - repeating these steps as necessary until it looks clean.

General advise for wicking is you want it relatively tight through the coil, cut to edge of the base, fluff up the tails and trim them so they just touch the deck. It might be different for this RDA though, but there are good few folk on here who have the Drop so hopefully they'll appear and let you know the best method.

yes, the farsalinos one you linked, if you read it, advises against dry heating a coil even once.

I know, I read it years ago, and I'm still doing it, and I probably always will :hmm:

We need and we will perform research to quantify the exposure (which we think is not very high), but until then it is not a bad idea to use common sense

I wonder if they ever did...
