Hi everyone!

New user here, found this space as I was searching for help. Basically, I use an Eleaf TC40W. I dropped and cracked the tank recently so ordered a Prism T20S tank and coil. It's a 1.5ohm coil (13-14w).

My problem is I'm totally and completely lost when it comes to vape tech. The e-liquid tastes foul and burnt when it comes out, no matter what temp/wattage I turn the battery up or down to.

Is this battery & coil/tank just not compatible? Any help is hugely appreciated, thanks gang!

Hi and welcome to the planet @Fergggg

istick40TC is a great little mod that i started with years ago but im not sure about the tank. just checked and its £9.99 on vampire vapes but i have no idea what coils it takes.
you are best to keep to wattage mode and not use TC temp control as TC needs specific coils made out of nickel, titanium or stainless steel. most coils that come with tanks are kanthal so only to be used in wattage mode.

if the eliquid tastes burnt then that is sadly either a duff coil or it has burnt out.
what liquid are you using. these mouth to lung tanks are best with 50vg/50pg while 70 vg is too thick so the cotton dries out and burns the coil.

are you priming first. drip juice on all the cotton of the coil and then start on a lower wattage so if you vape at 14watts then start on 5w and turn up every few puffs until you reach your desired wattage.

the coils that come with this tank
1 x Prism S Kanthal 0.8ohm Coil (16 - 18W) (Pre-installed)
1 x Prism S Kanthal 1.5ohm Coil (13 - 14W)

hopefully someone that uses this tank can advise further.

Partly as above, wrt did you prime it or let it sit first?

If not, or if it burnt for some other reason, it's ruined. Once it's burnt it's burnt and will taste as such whatever you do - it won't heal.

There is always the option of washing the coil and letting it soak in some Vodka then washing it again. This can bring back some coils to life but only if you can be bothered or the coil is not too far gone.

Your mod should not be displaying a temperature if you are using 1.5 ohm prism coils.

If it is, you are using the incorrect mode (TC, or temperature control), and will have burned the cotton in the coil.

Find out how set the mod to use wattage mode only, it is sometimes called power mode. Those coils are designed to be used at around 14 watts I think.

As others have said, make sure you let the coil sit in the tank with juice for a while before you use it, in order for the cotton in the coil to get saturated with juice, otherwise that will burn the cotton too.

The mod and tank are compatible, but it could also be the eliquid that’s the problem. If it’s very thick (a high percentage of VG) it will kill coils very quickly in that tank.
