New to DIY

Hi all, just started mixing my own. All my fruit mixes are rather muted, as though something is missing.
Have now ordered some Ethyl Maltol, and when it arrives, will try the same mixes with the EM added.
What other essential additives are there, and where do I get them from?

Right, have tried ethyl maltol and lemon juice, both make an improvement, but I still get a powdery taste.
A bit like a refresher sweet without the fizz. Anyone help with this?

what is your % in your mix

80% VG 20%PG
Nic at 3mg (VG base)
Flavourings 20% (PG base)

vg is not a good flavour carrier i do my mixes at 60 vg / 40 pg
