No it's not it's a stimulant, alcohol is a depressant, nicotine is not. I believe it is most similar to caffeine in its effect.

That is a different smokeable you are talking about, nicotine is a stimulant with anti depressant properties, read the article.

yeh if you read the whole article it states its been a very effective way of treating depression amongst other things , quite an interesting read tbh

Wrong, nicotine is incredibly harmful, it's a toxic substance and a poison but not in the miniscule volumes that you absorb through inhalation. It isn't a depressant, nicotine is a stimulant of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and is a nAChR agonist. There is no evidence that it weakens the immune system, nicotine is naturally occurring in many plants and vegetables including tomatoes which are good for you. Smoking however does weaken the immune system through the systematic damage it does to the body over years of addiction. Nicotine doesn't become more harmful when combined with the 4000+ chemicals in cigarettes, it's a percentage of the other chemicals that are harmful / carcinogenic.
