Nitecore SC2 Charger Anybody got one ?

I’m looking at getting a new charger more to rejuvenate poor performing cells using the function below.

So just curious if anyone has used the function or knows of a similar charger. I’d also prefer a hard wired one rather than a usb type lead.

“ Another unique feature of the SC2 is the ability to restore IMR cells. Upon insertion of an OV IMR battery, all eight LEDs on the SC2 will blink to indicate it is not ready for charging. By pressing and holding the button over the slot in question the charger will enter recover mode. Should the battery fail to recover after several attempts we recommend the battery is disposed of.”

Cheers Andy

Great advice above.

I wonder if it's worth using your dna mods.
I'd suspect they would probably do a far better job of charging your batteries as the chip inside is far superior than anything inside any external charger.

I'm more than happy to be proven wrong on any of this...

I'm not sure a DNA chip would be that good for "extreme circumstance" charging over a dedicated charger - a charger has one job, to charge. Charging with a DNA (or any other vape chipset) is a secondary consideration and while a DNA may very well be good at balancing a charge and handling normal use I wouldn't put more on it than that.

Having experimented with a variety of rejuvenation methods (ranging from commercially available, through marginally accepted all the way to downright dangerous) with everything from lead acid to lipo I'm reasonably confident in my position that it simply doesn't work. At least, not when you're expecting big results...

I have a couple of 18650s that I "recovered" from a rest of 0.4v - they operate fine in a torch, or running an atty at ~10w, but fall flat on their faces when expected to deliver anything over about 25w. Any test under that and they're happy though.

Unless you're a freak like me, if your cells have lost performance just replace them because anything else is an exercise in futility.
Noted and thanks, what would you recommend for a hard wired charger, I don’t have much love for the c to usb

Andy, have you considered any other brand?

I have an Xtar VC4SL which does quite a lot. Cells up to 21700, and features storage charging, capacity checking, and resistance measuring for pairing cells.

You can pick one of these up for about the same price as the Nitecore. Even cheaper if you order thru Fogstar with the forum discount code.

I have the VC4S, definitely recommend. Fogstar and code POTV20 for 20% off.

VC4SL is the new version, takes 4 21700’s at the same time. Tempting :)

I’ve got a Xstar VC4 inc the fast charging plug (used others with the same results)but it’s hellish temperamental depending on its mood it’ll change from 1amp to .2 amp charging irrelevant to age and size of batteries, it’s also a replacement from one that went faulty in August which xstar replaced.

I might just have another duff charger tbh

Have you considered certain bays may charge at certain rates
Might be worth digging out the instructions.
