Ohms and winds question

Ok not sure if this has been covered before but, when building a coil does the number of winds raise and lower the resistance, for example would 5 winds result in a higher res than 4, l'm asking because l'm getting low on heads and rewicking will be commensing shortly and l saw a tutorial on youtube using .2 Kanthal he put 5 on and got aprox 2.8 and l need a lower res for my ego twists, Thanks

Take a look in the rebuild a CE4 guide by DocVape. I think the fewer coils the lower the resistance as you are using less wire. Hope this is of some use to you

The wire has a resistance so the more wire you use the more resistance. If you use four coils, that will be a length of wire so a certain resistance, redoing it with an extra coil will use more wire so a higher resistance.

Nicely put. Also the thinner the wire the higher the resistance.

Different brands kanthal is a lot more springy than nichrome don't know of any other difference other than nichrome being nickel plated cheers Andy
