Hi! :hello:

I'm new to vaping and really want to quite the nasties once and for all. I'm currently smoking +- 12.5g of baccy every two-ish days (30ish rollies a day?), have been doing it for 20 years and it just got to stop.

I've used a couple of disposable cig-o-likes in the past and found them ok. I've also been using one of these a friend gave me as i keep running out of tobacco:

Mine looks a bit more chewed than that one though ;)

Usually i cant go for very long without a stinky but having made it for about 3 days on one of those^, i think i can do it and am ready to quit.

I've been reading up and have decided to jump straight in with a mod-type vaporizer and probably a rebuildable atomizer soon after.

I would like you kind folks opinion on jumping straight in with one of these:

Partly because they look cool, but also because i prefer the idea of having a decent keeper case for the battery rather than wasting money on a disposable casing. So really i'm looking for a system where i am able to replace the wearable parts (batt, coils, wick, juice) but keep and re-use the rest.

So am thinking of ordering the following:
-Smok Pipe Mod
-Vision Vivi Nova Mini
-Suitable Batterys/Charger
-Some Juice!

I will leave getting a rebuildable atomizer till i'm a bit more versed in the art of vaping but have been looking at the Vision Eternity Rebuildable(?). That can wait though.

I should note that i'm already used to battery technology, electronics, and am a technophile in general.
I understand the battery voltage will drop as it is used and this could affect the vaping!-

So i have a couple of questions:

1) Will the Smok ePipe, a couple of xxx350 batterys and a small bottle of juice be enough to last me a full day out vaping?

2) Is the lack of VV in the Smok a real problem in terms of getting a satisfying vape? I can imagine it becoming very weak later in the day?

3) I've seen an in-line vv device called 'The Silencer' made by nHaler. Does anyone know where to get one in the UK?

4) And most importantly i guess: What have i overlooked as a newbie? Maybe a mod is the wrong place to start if they are unreliable? If my vape supply fails early on i will be straight out to buy some fags untill it's fixed :(

Anyway, any advice is welcome. Thanks for taking the time to read my questions. Sorry for the huge post. And massive respect to everyone for quitting smoking!

Welcome to the planet :)
ive not used the pipe but there is a lot of love for it so it's as good a starting point as any. You sound like the kind of person who likes to play with his things so a mod is definately the way to go (as I'm pretty sure you would end up there anyway!). It is a good starting set up. Personally for me I find 18350s are too small though, I get 1/2 a day at the most out of them. It's fine if you have enough of them though, and in the vaping world you can never have too many spares! If you are going down the rebuildable route, an ohms tester is essential, especially when you first start out

Right, Here we go, An E-Pipe first off is unusual but since it is simply a battery holder and switch I see no reason why not. 18350 batteries dont last very well, if you're a heavy smoker you'll need 3 or 4 for a day. If you are on a budget I'd suggest something that takes 18650 batteries first. If you think consistent vape quality up to the end of a battery is going to be essential then you need to go for a VV/VW Mod like The Innokin SVD or Vamo V5, Both of which should be available as kits for £50 or less. The Innokin MVP2 is a box mod, has built in battery and can still be used when its on charge thats available for £40.
The nHaler silencer is basically an externally mounted Kick unit, Most mechanical mods can be setup to take a kick, telescopic ones in particular. If you really want an E-pipe with VV Then Visit MrKraken at Kraken E-cigs, He Has The Xross a VV E-pipe, as well as the astounding Mythical Fabs E-pipes. The Vivi Novas are OK But take a Look at the Protank Mini, or Aspire Mini Vivi BDC as well. Finally a 10mml bottle of Juice should Last 2 to 5 days, make sure you pick a strength based on how many you smoke a day...

The Smok is a good simple pipe to start with but, if you can push the boat out, the X.Fire one is better:
http://www.krakenecigs.com/epipes/kross-vv-epipe
It is slightly bigger but still very nice in the hand. You get an extension ring so that it will take 18650 batteries and the fire button is on the shank, rather than on top, which means you don't rub your finger on the casing.
The clearo that comes with it is rather nice too although I'm currently using a mini-Davide and a mini ProTank works well too.
Main difference is that the X.Fire is vv so better control of the output.

I'm a heavy vaper and two 350s and a 10ml bottle will just about do me for a 12-hour day at the football. I do usually carry a backup device though just in case, maybe a mini ProTank/eVod battery or eGo/CE5. My day out includes 4 hours on the train and 90 minutes in the stands so not vaping constantly.

Never heard of The Silencer but I don't see why a simple mechanical mod like these would be a problem for a new vaper. Simple means there's not much to go wrong and both pipes are well made. The Golden Rule is to always have a backup. I would hate myself for buying a packet of cigs now and would go for a cheap disposable if all else failed.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do like the look of the x.fire pipe and like the idea of voltage control. Its only the price that's holding me back getting it. Will have to decide in the next 24 hours and put my order in...

And it's a good point that if worst comes to worst and the vape fails for some reason i can just get a disposable instead of going back to real cigs.

Will do a bit more reading and then take the plunge..

Cheers!

My mate just got around to starting on the ecigs, and he is handy with fiddly things, so I advised him to get a simple smok e-pipe as shown above, and a protank, and some juice and wick and wire, and he is going great guns, also with two efest 18350 batteries (He got the pipe, batteries and tank from kraken ecigs).
You don't need to get wick and wire, but with youtube videos, you can learn to rewick your protank/vivi nova/evod, etc heads.
Oh, probably need a battery charger too.

Ok i went for the Smok in the end along with a Mini Davide. £50 total with battery and charger and ego adaptor on a Crimbo special. Can't wait to try it out. Gonna go down my local vape shop and try out some flavour tomorrow...

So thanks for all your inputs :)

Incidentally i found a site in Italy that has a similar deal for 41.5 euros delivered. Works out at about £35 for the full setup and is by far the cheapest i have found. Almost too cheap. I checked the sites rating out and it looks legit. Plus the owner frequents an Italian forum which is always a good sign ;)
May be worth a punt but i went for a uk kit as it came with better clearo, batt and charger. Someone may be interested though. Please understand i havn't ordered from this site though so do so at your own risk...

Some good advice has been given already @Colonial Vaper Mk II All I could suggest is try and hold out a bit if you can. Every day Mr Kraken has a special offer on leading up till Christmas, you just never know what offer he will have on next. You will see his banner flashing away like a flashy thing at the top of the main POTV page, if not just keep an eye out for his latest daily thread.
