So I've been playing with an old vamo board....making it into a box mod.I took the tactile switches off to be replaced with better ones on the outside of the box and while i was in the process of trying different gauges of wire I've managed to pull a couple of the solder pads for the up and down buttons off! As I'm new to soldering, can anyone tell me if there's a way of either repairing the pads or another way of getting the buttons to work(the pads are the two lower ones on the right hand switch BTW !)

It's usually pretty involved work repairing a pad, for something the price of a Vamo board its just not worth it. Have a good look at the board where the pad has lifted, if the circuit track leading to it is a decent size you can carefully remove the solder mask from the track and solder the wire directly to that but be careful. One other point is that you do not need to experiment with different wires for switches on a Vamo board, they dont carry any real current, they are logic function only - the actual power control and switching is done by transistors.

Thanks for the info.....probably file it in the bin then as you say they're very cheap. As for the wires , I was actually changing to a smaller gauge which is probably the cause of the problems.....suppose I'll just have to learn to be a little more patient and precise when soldering. On to the next then !!
