Ok so from what i've read so far, I'm led to believe vaping non water soluble extracts is not a good idea.

But just came across this , which is clearly marketed to vapers.

Peppermint Oil Natural - ecigExpress

I've heard of the manufacturer, LorAnn, but in the context that they specialise in edible flavours rather than vapable liquid, so be careful what you get from there, and warned to stear clear of the non solubles.

Can anyone offer a sound theoretical basis as to why this might be okay or otherwise to vape? Is it actually ok, or just an irresponsible vendor?

FTR Im not looking to order from these guys simply as I'm UK based, was simply scouring the interwebs for mixing info and found this which seems to contradict what little I thought I knew.

Thanks

Yes it's a stupid name for a company when oil is a bad ingredient. There's no oils in LorAnn oils.

They're branching out into "Paint Stripper Milk" and "Cyanide Coffee". ;)

Ah I see, so its purely designed to mislead me, I get it. Cyanide coffee though.. hmmmm... could use some of that for some people I work with ;)

lol cheers for the reply, just starting to get into mixing and its a bit of a minefield of misinfo :D

I'd wait for a confirmation post from Diche, I think they wrote the post I saw about it.

cheers, actually ive just remembered why ive heard of LorAnn, its from the POTV wiki and the oils are flagged in red as bad.

so yeah, I'm surprised that they are blatantly being touted as a viable vapeable.

Lorann is a perfectly good brand if you're baking cakes and other foodie stuff. Some of their flavourings are OK to vape but it's up to vapers and vendors to decide suitability for vaping.

Yep leave it alone, most natural extracts from plants will be oils. The oil is removed by "steeping" the leaves in a solvent and then the solvent is removed by heating in a warm water bath, leaving only the oil behind and no other contaminants. That said, some of the reviews say that they have dissolved them in PG, which is not surprising considering that PG is a diol, similar to, but not the same as an alcohol as some think. Just because it is soluble in PG doesn't make it safe, the water test is a much better indicator. If you dissolved this oil in PG and vaped it, the PG metabolises into low level acids and is dealt with by the relevant biochemical pathway, the oil will not be metabolised or broken down and will stay in your lungs.
