I think, from my 2016 TPD prep days. Never had nic turn that colour before, stored in amber glass bottles, came out of the freezer, clear as a bell, 6 weeks ago, decanted into a 30ml bottle, stored in a dark draw.

For the last few weeks I've had mega issues with an extremely (desert) dry mouth and throat. I thought it was some commercial e-liquid I was using in my pods, or maybe the juice being 50/50 and the pg causing the issue, I primarily vape 70/30. Hope it's just the remnants of the old 2016 nic, if it's the more recent purchases I'm stuffed :hmm:

Quite normal for nic to go pink. Wouldn't think it's the root cause, and nic goes peppery when "bad".

I suspect it's got more to do with the 50/50 mixes, particularly if you're not used to it and don't up your fluid intake to compensate.

Pink nic is caused by poor handling discipline and allowing air into it continually, causing degradation of the nic. Usually caused by continually opening a large container while drawing off some nic.

Oh yeah I hear you say, how do you mitigate that? When I buy it, it's usually in 500ml glass bottles, filled to the brim, very little trapped air. From the freezer, I let it thaw out and decant it into 100ml glass and refreeze 4 of the 5 bottles, again, very little air. I keep one out to work from. Most of my mixes are litre mixes so it uses a fair skelp of the nic, the rest I make into 120ml 18mg nic shot doses that I can draw off into 10ml bottles I keep for the purpose.

Air is your enemy.
