I've built quite a few dual micro coils by now. I try to make them the same as possible but when they dont light up evenly which one shud I pinch? The quicker or the lagging coil?

Why dont they light up at the same speed?

If i only pinch one coil, doesnt matter which, that one always lags. I think the tweezers sink the heat so that coil is cooler when i press the fire button.

Probably doesnt matter too much but a bit OCD about some things.

if the coils have the same diameter, number of wraps and have roughly the same leg length all tightened down nicely then they should light up evenly. pinch the coils until they are nice and tight together, if they are both nice and tight, but still light up unevenly then the coils are mismatched.

try to make sure the coils start heating from the same temperature though, if you have jut pinched one (and as you said sinked a lot of heat from it) then chances are the unpinched one is starting from a good few degrees hotter and will therefore light up quicker. blow on them and try and cool them off a bit and they should hopefully glow together :)

A tip that saved me a lot of stress getting them to glow evenly is to strum the coils gently..

Pinch the coils, start with the one that's lagging but keep in mind once you've done that that you've absorbed some of the heat from the coil into the tweezers / pliers so the one you've pinched will light up slower until it's heated back up.

Edit: I should of read the above reply before replying :)

OK cheers I seem to be doing the right thing, but can be a bit frustrating. Finally got the derringer done, not perfect but will have to do. One coil still lagging a bit.

A tip that saved me a lot of stress is don't pinch your coils. Controversial I know.

I haven't pinched mine ever since I got told this last year. Stick a screwdriver in and manipulate the wraps and the coil itself instead. My coils are still tidy and flavour and cloud wise are better than when I used to pinch them tightly together. I find the flavour (and cloud production) to be better with a slight spacing in between each wrap.

The only real benefit to pinching your coils is that they look tight and pretty. It's all for show ;)
