I know Smoking is Smoking but for some reason over the past couple of days in here (Hospital) i have been thinking about going back to the Tobacco Pipe, some say it's not really Smoking as you don't inhale. I found it really relaxing and Enjoyable. I still have a few Pipes still and a few unopened Tins of Pipe Tobacco so wouldn't have any initial outlay. At the moment it's just something that's buzzing round my Noggin. It's also something worth thinking about if Vaping goes Tits up over the coming weeks. I can't see me paying the Hiked Prices that are probably going to be introduced and also the Flavour Ban that might come into effect. I couldn't see me going back to the Roll Ups after all the effort and Cost of Quitting so i think the Pipe could be a reasonable Alternative. I did put my thoughts across on a couple of Pipe Forums i have been a long time member of and the replies have been mixed. Some say if Vaping is going to become too expensive and you are going to be restricted to Certain Liquids and probably a maximum Nicotine strength then why continue to do it. I have already checked the Prices of some Pipe Tobacco i was fond of and it was actually Cheaper than a 50ml Bottle of my Favourite Liquid. As already said this is a thought and not a Decision. Over the years i have been given a Hell of a lot of Advice on POTV and once again would appreciate your honest thoughts again.

Stay away from it mate, you don't want the risk of falling back into smoking again.

It's your decision mate but it feels like going in the wrong direction to me.

It is just a thought and dependant on what's happening with Vaping in the coming weeks. I have always said that if i ever quit vaping i would go back to smoking and of that there has never been any doubt. I kind of see Pipe Smoking as the lesser of 2 Evils. I refuse to pay extortionate prices to Vape and moreso extortionate prices on Liquid they say i have to Vape. If Vaping goes the way i think it's going to go the we as Vapers aren't going to be left much Choice. I will be the first to admit i enjoyed smoking, pipe or roll-ups and was more or less forced into quitting and the same is happening with Vaping in my eyes. Buying something you don't like has to be a NO from me. I think Flavour Restriction alone is enough to kill off Vaping, adding higher Taxes will be the final nail in the coffin.

I knew someone who died of lung cancer, long time pipe smoker, I suspect although not inhaling like a fag, some inhalation occurs..... I would steer well clear, you keep mentioning cost, but can you put a cost on your life.

Mate my stepdad was a pipe smoker all his life, he had to have a triple heart bypass & they he got throat cancer, he is doing ok now but completely stopped any form of smoking.

at the end of the day it's your choice, but you having all these heart ops because of the smoking damage, I would not go back to any sort of smoking as you have like been given a second chance.

Pipe tobacco carries the same health warnings as cigarettes so if was you I wouldn't go back to smoking. The only thing that's certain is the vape duty from Oct 26 and while the tobacco and vapes bill going through parliament will pass afaik it just gives the government the ability to ban flavours, it doesn't specifically do that, so nothing's going to change over the coming weeks.

I have a decent collection of pipes, not once have I contemplated using them again, vaping is better for me, smoking is cheaper where I live but vaping is my personal choice.

More expensive, more restricted, that's vaping in my part of the world. I'm encouraged to smoke.

Clean car, cleaner house, windows, curtains etc thanks to vaping. No backwards steps, the wife would nag me to death.😉

I did have a smoking relapse a few weeks ago, Bulgaria pulled the plug on vaping! No supplies.

Hated myself for smoking, started mixing juice, anything I had at hand. Bit like the early days experiments. Breaking bad syndrome.

Eventually things calmed down, I have supplies, my wife doesn't nag me, I'm content plus I can look my GP in the eye.

My GP is my next door neighbour.😂

LordOdin, my vaping costs have doubled this year, government inflicted.
I've simply stopped buying other crap, I prefer to vape. I manage ok.

Good luck 👍

Thanks everyone, it's something that's been running through my mind, i haven't decided anything and that's the reason i asked for your thoughts. I am drawing the same conclusion on the Pipe Forums that i shouldn't start again. I think Vaping is still going to be a Dilemma not because of the Cost which i think is Relevant but not my main issue, it's going to be am i not prepared to Vape plain Flavours because the Government says i have too, i have to say No, even though i Vape 90% Tobacco Flavours, i mean for me they can get rid of all the Sweet and Fruit Flavours which though i still think is wrong wouldn't really affect me. What happened to smoking is now happening to Vaping. I took the hit when it came to smoking but can't see me doing the exact same thing with Vaping. I think Vaping is expensive now for what it is. We have Big Brand Tobacco but we also have Big Brand Vaping who are there just to take our money, there is no difference between them. My opinion on the Vape Market has always been the same, they pretend to care about your everyday Vaper, but at the end of they day they are still going to hike up their prices whilst us fools readily pay it. Also had Sophie bending my ear all day about it even though i haven't made any decisions either way. I think i will end up quitting both tbh.
