From a conversation I had on a different thread I've decided I'm going to get myself the RTA for my cleito exo, I always thought that coil building was very daunting but then I realized I can just buy prebuilt coils and keep trying the wicking until I get it right.

My question is what pack of prebuilt coils would everyone recommend? I wanted a pack that has a few different types so I can see what ones I prefer. I've seen different packs like demon killer but then some reviews say that they are cheaply made and not good quality.. I don't have a clue just looking for some advice pleeassee :D

I was thinking the same as you, after couple really bad premade coils I had enough, bought simple 24g ss316 wire for about 4 pounds and starting building , my first was great I have no idea how I did it but yeah with 3mm screwdriver it was great but the second one, third one and rest of them failed... decided to get a "kuro koiler" from ebay 3mm and it's so simple takes me about 1 min to do a great coil, also if you want like fused Clapton , tri core Clapton etc get the premade wire from coilology. don't waste your money on premade coils get the wire yourself and do it its a lot cheaper and better.

if you still want the premade coils get the box from coilology :18:

Geek vape produce some decent pre mades. You can pick them up on fasttech.

Personally, I use runny nose coils . They are dear though at 7 quid a pack but they last me a month. Alternatively, pick some up from @Smut . Great custom made coils

You could experiment building different coils with something like this and a cheap coiling jig, plus some cotton.

Or buy straight from China, select a few different spools you like, grab a cheap jig and a mountain of cotton for peanuts(tbf amazon prices aren't half bad), the catch being it'll take quite a bit longer to arrive.

You can afford to stuff up a dozen coils(you'll have it down within half that and get better as you do it more), you'll get loads of coils out of a reel of wire(40+, or double+ depending on the length of the spool).

I dont have time or the deterity to build my own coils but I always use RDAs so I buy premades. I buy mine from advanced vape supply who specialise in stainless steel coils. All of their coils are 316L or 430, its great for me because I like temp control. They are based in the US so delivery can take 10 days and basically is most of the cost, My last order from them was 3 packs of 10 316L clapton coils for £26

All the numbers confuse me a bit though tbh like the mm of the wire and how many wraps that's needed and so on that's the main reason I was looking for prebuilt coils, haven't got a clue about any of that stuff

Well the more wraps the more the current has to travel so the higher the resistance and the lower the ideal wattage or temperature tends to be. Same for inner diameter, certain coil sizes are of course going to work better in certain setups, but most people stick to around the 3mm mark on the whole.

If you want a single coil build to ohm out at 0.4 on a 3mm diamater then you will need x wraps depending on what type of wire(s) it uses as calculated on steam-engine.org. Since you are new to this I strongly recommend you PM @Smut and see if he can suggest the right coil for your rba and style of vaping, paying £7.50 for a set of coils that will last you 3-6 months is pretty much a sure bet when most of the machined coils you will get online last about 1-2 weeks tops.

If you really just want to experiment with different fancy coils then the coilology 7-in1 pack is a good reference point. I personally stick to Fused Claptons or Aliens in ka1 or ni80 depending on what rda or rba i'm using and occasionally stainless steel when I get bored of VW and want to use temp control. It is all a matter of taste and preference.

Thanks for explaining, really appreciate the help! I'm finding it a bit hard to get my heard around. Ok I'll give him a message hopefully he can help me out

smut does great coils, I've bought some of him before but as I said I prefer temp control and Ni80 doesn't work in TC.
