Hey guys,

On my first external battery mod a picked up an efest 2500mah, 35A battery. Seemed to do me fine, got a Smok Alien and needed 2 new ones so nipped down to the same shiop and got another 2 same as the first.

Now I have started to notice the drain, especially on the older one, I always charge through USB as its more convenient for me at my PC at work.

I started looking at batteries, and aimed for 3500mah thinking they they will last the longest. But what I'm not sure about the what the effect of the different amps have?

Can someone explain in simple terms just so i understand it a bit better?

@ScottishDuck13
what wattages do you vape at? for the alien I'd recommend either samsung 25r or sony vtc5a

efest re wrap their cell, so you can't always trust whats underneath the wrap, and they exaggerate the ratings

you need to choose the best battery for how you vape, not just thinking a higher mah battery will suit your needs, higher mah batteries will have a lower amp rating

Depends on the coil, but Id say on average its around 100 - 120w. Thats my sweetspot on the RBA, Occasionally i'll stick a T10 or something in and go to 150w.

Thats what i just realised when looking that it tends to be higher mah = lower A and vice versa, so whats the difference?

well, mah is just the capacity of the battery, where as amps are the current being used to supply the power

the batteries I recommended will be fine, I would also suggest a dedicated charger

@ScottishDuck13 , this may help

Thanks man, will probably end up with them, i know I should really get an external charger too :P

So basically if I go for higher mah thing it will last longer it will actually just give me less power?

in a way,
higher mah batteries will not be able to supply the what you're asking of them with potential for the batteries to fail and vent, you would also more than likely keep getting low battery warnings because of the stress/sag on the batteries, at the watts you're vaping at

you need higher AMP rated batteries, not high mah, get the sony vtc5a that I linked to

Ah cheers, didnt see that there, helpful pic!

out of interest, my backup mod is a kanger topbox kit normall use in TC about 250 Celsius 75w. Would the above Samsungs suit this too? just so I can batch order a few

glad the pic helps, often easier to understand and get what you're trying to say across with a pic

either batteries will be fine, samsung 25r or sony vtc5a

just make sure you "marry" you batteries, so for your alien, the 2 batteries for that mod should always be used together and charged together, use a completely separate battery for a single 18650 device
