I used to steep open-topped for the first 24 hours or so then put the lid on.

Recently I've been doing this smell test whereby I leave the top off, hours later smell it and it smells good, then shake it and smell again and get that slight alcohol aroma. So I'm thinking that liquids need lots of regular shaking and lots more airing.

Question is, do you steep your liquids with the tops off all week? Or just for 24 hours?

I'm currently doing 2-3 days before testing date. Wondering if that's too much or not enough!

Secondary question: what's all this about sunlight/uv being good for them??

Hi Andy, I have only been mixing for a couple of weeks now and to be honest, after coming across lordy`s review on mixing I use the coffee frother whisk about three times before bottling it up. I think it might not be to everybodys standard of mixing but he claims it reduces steeping from a week or so down to about three days. I must admit I got no proof of this myself as everthing I have mixed up so far I have vaped:yahoo:

I use a UV light (about £20 from Maplin) stand bottles next to it for 3-4 hours and they're good to go. It's not perfect but it's close enough for testing purposes.

Steeping is the nicotine reacting with the flavours in the mix. It's a chemical reaction that is sped up by heat, light(UV) and more oxygen.

If you use a coffee frother you're adding more oxygen.

Is that one of those hand held things that has a thing on the end that sort of vibrates?

Yep, they're the ones.

Unless I'm mixing my own I never steep. I don't buy a bottle of wine to drink in a fortnight - if it's not ready to vape straight away I won't buy it. Stupid rule I know but that's just me.
