I, like most people here, find rebuilding coils therapeutic. I have the sense harakles tank and was a little disappointed that I couldn't rebuild coils. After a bit of a search I found a video on YouTube (can't remember who by to give credit) and gave it a shot. I've put one together today and took pictures along the way to show how it's done...
First thing to do is take that sucker apart, as you can see in the pics it's a simple case of pulling these two bits out.
Push the old coil out from the bottom.
Choose your wire and make your coil... I've used the 4mm wide with ni200 wire (I'm out of kanthal but have tried and it works with both) I think I done about seven to ten wraps. Then straightened the top connection wire parallel to the jig.
Wrap the cotton around the OUTSIDE of your coil and fold the bottom connecting wire over the top and pinch it to hold your cotton in place.
Now you've wicked it your ready to put it through from the top so the wires poke out the bottom. I like to make the outer wire that folds over the top a little bit longer as you can see.
The rubber grommet can now go back on. Put the outer wire (the one I make longer) through the middle and use the rubber grommet to press the other wire against the metal. If I remember rightly that makes your negative.
Put the last piece back on making sure the wire is between that and your rubber grommet.
Set your desired temperature or power...
Prime her up and enjoy.
Thanks for reading and if it helps just one person learn something new then it was worth the time to write and attach pictures.
