Wondered if anyone could help

I'm new to rebuildables and I'm trying out boro's .

My first attempt on the odd job was frustrating, the coil resistance should have been about 2 , but both my mods were reading the coil at 0.8 and lower.

Just wondered if anyone might know why this happened?

The only thing I could think of was that there was a short, my coil was touching the barrel or something

Also on my sxk billet box the coil resistance changes as I vape (is that normal/safe)?

When you say the coil resistance should have been 2, do you mean 2.0. Also how have you confirmed this. Personally I wouldn't make coil that high, I personally have my could coming out between 0.40 to 0.60 and vape between 20-25 watts. The odd job is a pretty simple rba to build on. I would maybe suggest just make sure you have cut the legs and short as possible and then put the chimney on and fire it not in the Boro to make sure it's ok. If you can get a picture of the build maybe that would tell us alot more.

It would also help to know the type of wire and the thickness.

Oh my mistake I meant to say 0.2 not 2. And the mods I used were reading resistance at 0.09 and 0.08 and lower. So low the mod flashed a warning. I'll try to get a picture of the build thanks

I have found that various Mods or Aio's can give different readings, also you can see a change the more a coil is used. I haven't come across Coils shorting as i am usually pretty careful when putting a build on something, RBA's being smaller are probably gonna be easier to short than say for a RTA because your working in a much smaller space, if a Coil is shorting then the Mod should tell you, normally it will say Check Atomiser or some actually say Short.

If you are using SS wire, or any TC wire resistance changes are normal - but this increase shouldn't be huge. For example a 0,20 ohm SS coil may go to 0.22/0.23 when heated and return to 0,20 when it is cold - but if you see a large increase it's probably a connection problem.

Boros can be frustrating at times because of their tendency to trap condensation which can cause a bad connection so make sure the positive connection on the mod and RBA are clean and dry. Don't forget to also check the top nut is the negative contact - make sure the nut and mod thread are also clean and dry as the slightest bit of juice/condensation can make the resistance vary dramatically.

Are you checking the coil for not spots and strumming them out so it glows evenly... if not that could be the cause of the problem as the current can take a short cut and miss a section of the coil giving much lower resistance. If you are, try using a stretched coil as the current can't take a short cut if the wraps aren't in contact and the resistance should be more stable.

That normally means you have a looser connection or the coil its shelf is touching the chimney. Undo the screws/grubs and re tighten them and make sure the coil isn't touching anything.

a stretched out coil, is that like a spaced coil?
