Currently using starter batteries, have been since Novemeber. I've got 3 batteries, two came with a CE4 starter kit and the next came with a Ego Pro Mini pack. All 3 batteries seem to be having trouble with charge now. Though I suspect it is because I'm tooting persistently while I'm at home. However after 30 mins of putting on a charged battery the light is flashing 3 times. Some one has said short circuiting. What does that mean and how do I stop it? Sorry I'm a complete novice at all of this.

hi, sadly theres lots of poor quality knock off batteries around, they can behave badly and dangerously too. It could be low charge, a short is possible but unlikley, do you clean the battery to atomizer connection with a bud/tissue? my advice would be to bit the bullet and buy a quality battery from a reputable vendor such as a vision spinner or an ego vv v2. It will save you cash and hassle in the long run, also introduce you to the variable voltage system where you can find your sweet spot and make your juices come alive.

Ego batteries should only be charged by the charger that came with them. They can have different charge rates, different protection circuits. Some have the protection circuitry in the battery some have it in the charger so best case you have two protection circuits working at the same time which can cause conflicts, worst case you have none and risk having a fire on your hands

Ego type batteries, flash three times when you switch them on or off. About eight flashes, is low battery.
So it might be the auto shut off because of a short. Check to see if the center pin on the battery is stuck down, it should be proud of the rubber around it. And the rubber should be intact.
If it is stuck (like mine do) grab a wooden toothpick or something similar, and carefully flick it up around the sides.
To clean the area, if this is the cause. I use a cotton bud soaked in vodka to clean it, then wipe out with the good old kitchen towel. And leave it for a few hours, somewhere warm to dry out.

I've got no rubbers that have come with any of the batteries. :/

All 3 kits were bought from Mister Smoke in Derby/Notts border. A reputable seller with their experience and recommendation of using the HTC mobile charger my hubby and brother uses to charge theirs. Hubby and brother don't have any trouble and have the same kits.

Ive vet just bought a Evod variable voltage battery. Was told to charge it for 8hrs first time and then only for an hour thereafter. It won't charge for 8 hrs, the light goes off.

A very big thank you for the replies. It is just so confusing when things go wrong. And yes I've already had one battery set my settee on fire! Dodgy battery my hubby thought he would charge and use! :/

The 8 hour charge thing is rubbish - You never have to do that with lithium batteries - That's a left over from nicad (Nicd) and NiMH batteries that had memory effect - Lithium batteries should be charged only until they are charged and never overnight as they have no such memory effect - The rubber that's being referred to is actually partly inside the battery - If you look in the end of the battery there is a circular piece or metal in the middle (that's the center post) underneath that is a rubber grommet that stops the center post touching the outer negative part (the threaded part) if those two touch at some point during the charging process it will short out and stop - As previously said tease up the center pin very slightly with a toothpick or watchmakers screwdriver (it only needs to come up a mm or less)
