Hi Guys,

I'm hoping for some advice. I am an ex-smoker vaper of a few years now. I went straight to a 'blu' brand pen style vape with a battery & clearomiser and solely use one flavour of 'big juice UK' vape juice 12 mg 60pg/40vg. I have several spare batteries & buy my clearomisers & juice online.

Now for my problem, my clearomisers taste burnt after a day or so of use rather than the expected week, this has been happening for a while now & I've just been putting up with it & changing more frequently but it's getting really annoying.

I do vape quite a lot, I don't let the clearomiser run low or empty but sometimes it does get quite warm. I suspect I am just using it too much for this brand now. I think I just need something that can cope with more frequent use (more 'puffs' & longer 'puffs')....sorry for the vague terms....

I really don't understand anything else about vaping equipment or terminology & am overwhelmed when I look on vape retailers by the amount of different options & equipment.

Can anyone recommend a similar simple setup to what I have now, a pen style with a clearomiser (rather than coil? etc), that will cope with more use than the 'blu' brand, that is also purchasable from a reputable online source & work with my preferred type of juice?

Thank you so much guys, I really appreciate your help!!

Hi @Emma123 Welcome to POTV

Ok so yeah i would move to something else completely, of u don't want separate coils then i can recommend a few devices where u just replace the complete pods.

Best ones on the market atm are:

  • Aspire Favostix use code POTV20 on UK aspire vendor site.
  • Wenax K1 by Geekvape
  • Xtal pod by ZQ Vapour
  • Vaporesso Luxe Q
  • Voopoo Vinci pod (newly released one)

I have used all of these and have reviewed or in the process of reviewing them.

Have a look online, personally i think u should also consider a device with replacement coils but i understand you want hassle free vaping.

If u have any questions please just ask, but check them out online and in the review section as they each look different and have various size battery in built

Hi and welcome. @DeeDee aka (Pod Queen) knows her stuff in this area of vaping, so I won't add any more suggestions. Do ask though if you have any further questions.

Hi @Emma123 and welcome to the planet.

which blu kit is it you are using. is it the pro that looks like a pen or the pod kit?
im totally out of touch with new kit but the blu is what i initially gave up my 37 year bad habit with.
i know you said you didnt want coils but this pen kit knocks the stuffing out of the blu pro and the clearo doesnt leak after a few months of use. it takes dual 1.6ohm coils which are easy to change and give decent flavour and will work fine with 60pg/40vg www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=vapouriz+fuse&i=drugstore&ref=nb_sb_noss_1

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, so kind

Thanks for pointing me towards DeeDee @ADDicT & @rew.

Thanks @DeeDee aka (Pod Queen), I've been reading reviews...they all look good, a little different to what I'm used to but similar enough that I can adapt I think maybe the Aspire might be the way to go for me.

Thanks to you too @MrDJ, I think may well pick up a vapouriz as a familiar backup too & as an introduction to coils as you & DeeDee have both suggested (& you have kindly said this one is easy ). I have the pro kit, it was the closest thing to swapping from straight ciggies I could find at the time, same as you I wanted to kick the long term (20 ish yrs for me) bad habit & i'm scared to move away from what I know works for me but want to find something that doesn't now taste icky after 24 hrs plus embarrassingly I only figured out recently that 'blu' is owned by one of the big tobacco companies & i think they've had enough of my money over the years now!!

Again, thanks everyone, this "non-newbie newbie" is really grateful for the advice, it's very confusing out there!

A lot of people slated Blu on here some time back because of the link to Big T. Personally, I think they're great. I also quit smoking using the Blu Pro - twice!

Vape pens are way out of my area so I have none to recommend. However, I did recently "find" my Jac Vapour VIM and as far as simplicity, easy of use and no nonse vaping goes, it's still a damn good device and I'm thoroughly enjoying using it again. 5 clicks on, 5 clicks off and that's literally it. All the coils are good.

Might be totally irrelevant to what you're looking for but I thought I'd just mention it as a quick look online shows they're still available to buy. Pretty sure there's a potv discount code for JV too.

I know you specifically stated you want a device that is as easy as possible but - I would recommend you don't rule out devices with removable coils. The ONLY difference is you have to 'prime' them by putting a few drops of juice onto the cotton of the coil, fit the coil in the tank, fill and leave it for 5 - 10 minutes so the cotton in the tank soaks up the juice.

If it sounds daunting - just watch a few Youtube reviews, and you will see how easy it is. Priming coils is exactly the same for every stock coil tank - if you can prime one, you can prime them all.

My personal recommendation for a simple kit would be the Innokin T18 pen style AIO. It will work well with 60/40 juice, the coils are cheap. last ages and if you screw up and forget to order coils they can be found easily in any brick and mortar vape shop.. Shop around online and you can find the kit for sub £20, and packs of 5 coils for £7.50.

i found these coils to last a good month if not longer but i was not using continuosly all day as had bigger kits for that. for the size of coil the flavour was much better than the blu.

just found one.
like the blu you unscrew base and fill up from the bottom. its a simple screw coil into base then screw into bottom of clearo. simples :)
those crafty buggers at blu sussed out people were using other clearos on the blu battery so they changed the screw fitting so sadly other clearos wont fit on the blu now.

Have to agree with Mitz above that the VIM from Jac Vapour is another cracking bit of kit which i still use mainly for car journeys https://www.jacvapour.com/vim

A modern, budget friendly, alternative to the old pen/clearomizer combos is the Uwell Calliburn.
It's a single button, usb rechargeable ecig about the same size as the old pens, its slightly flattened (shape is like a long usb stick).
It uses a refillable pods (plastic tanks with built in coil, functionally the same thing as a clearomizer). The pods are good for 10-20 refills before they start tasting off.

In the US it's $20 for the device and 2 pods. Extra pods cost $3 each. The Uwell Crown costs the same amount, is a little bigger, is higher wattage.
