Afternoon all, I've always struggled on and off with vaping, trying to fully convert. I bought a smok species but the tank isn't all that, nearly blew my head off first go. Whats the rules on buying tanks that aren't the same brand as the mod/ battery thing, what ever it's called? does it just have to have the same 510 connection? Then buy coils to fit that tank? Any help much appreciated, wasted a lot of money over the years on these

Yes, most tanks and mods have a standard 510 connection. So long as the coil is in the power range the mod can handle. Theres also the diameter of the tank to consider (a 28mm tank will look abit odd on a 22mm mod)
At the moment I have 22mm tanks on mods more suited to 24mm for looks.

Has your Species got the Baby V2? (V2 is important) if so try different coils before you shell out on a different tank, the new Mini V2 S1 & S2 coils are superb and lower wattage.

Sorry forgot to ask, do you know which style you are vaping? Mouth To Lung aka MTL (draw - inhal - exhale like a ciggie) or Direct To Lung aka DTL (inhale directly to your lungs - exhale) if you are Mouth To Lung this tank is definitely not for you as it's designed for DTL.

Thanks for the replies boys, all this vaping malarky has always baffled me, took some pics. Vaping dtl, had sub ohms in the past that were dtl but this just seemed strong, one reviewer on tut tube said the tank was turbulent. Hope these help, might be I just need to get used to it but I'm sure the review guy said the draw hole was bigger

What pg vg ratio juice are you using?

What wattage are you using?

Nearly blew your head off? sounds like you might be better off with a mouth to lung tank. Aspire mini nautilus was great for me in my early vaping days, was quite happy with that for several years before switching to sub ohm.

@ViolenT_Keith I use a Smok Species and found its a very good vape ... so

1. What Wattage are you using
2. What Coil are you using
3. what PG/VG and nic strength are you using

I see you are using the V2 S2 coil, though its not Mesh I still find it very flavourful and not as intense as the V2 S1 (Mesh).
Turbulence wise shouldn't be an issue, mine certainly isn't with either S1 or S2 coils but don't worry about that for now.

DTL obviously isn't the issue then so it's going to mostly down to which juice you're using, it might be a case of the strength is too high for you on this tank/coil.

So as others have asked, what eliquid and strength are you using? and wattage wise I use this coil at 50-55 watts with the airflow 2/3 open.

I’m on the s1 mesh coil at the moment and have to agree with @Vapaneezer Scrooge review with the mag v8 kit, it’s superb! However it seems like a modern high wattage tank might not be for you, for example I would compare a DTL hit from 3 or 4 years ago to the vape you would get off modern “pod” systems like the Voopoo Vinci or Smok RPM40... you might want to try one of those if you know anyone that has one.
