Lilia @Sourcemore sent me this to try out. I am not affiliated with POTV or Sourcemore, nor do I get paid to review things.

Please excuse the quality of the photos on my reviews just now. My phone broke so I had to buy a cheapo one to keep me going for the next month or 2.

The Smok Thallo Pod Kit

https://www.sourcemore.com/smok-thallo-pod-mod-kit.html

The discount code for this on Sourcemore is THAL and will get you it for $26.49

This is an 80w kit with a 3000mah internal battery. It takes RPM 2 mesh coils. It has a 5ml (non TPD regions) pod tank and uses USB Type C charging. There is a single battery version called the Thallo S available as well and it takes 18650 and 21700 batteries.

In the box you get:

1 Thallo Device
1 Thallo RPM 2 Pod (5ml) (2ml TPD)
1 RPM 2 Mesh 0.16ohm Coil
1 RPM 2 DC 0.6ohm MTL Coil
1 Type-C Cable
1 User Manual

I’ve never had a Smok device. I’ve tried a couple of their tanks and found them to be pretty good, and never really had the coil issues a lot of people seem to have. They do pump out a fair amount of stuff though and this is their latest pod system. Styling wise it’s similar to the Voopoo Drag S. in fact it’s strikingly similar. It has a round battery tube, covered with a leather type padding and the board looks as if it’s just stuck onto that and protrudes out the front (it isn’t but it looks like that). It has a pod tank that clips into the top with the usual magnets and the airflow ring is set in the top of the device. I quite like the design on the leather on this one, my wife thought it ‘funky’ (I don’t know whether to disown her now or later).

There aren’t too many functions on this device, it has no TC or curve adjustment on it. It has no smart features, just a simple VW mode where you can adjust the wattage to where you like it. You can lock the fire button with 3 clicks and the wattage adjustment buttons by clicking both together. You can also change the colour on the 0.96 inch display by clicking the fire and + button together. Likewise you can clear the puff count by using the fire button and the – button. And that’s it, nothing else. It’s simple and easy to use with no faff.

The pod is 5ml on this one and uses the push fit RPM 2 coils. In the kit you get a 0.6ohm coil, rated 12-25w, and a 0.16ohm coil, rated 30-50w. The 0.6 is pre-installed and is touted as a MTL coil, and it is better mtl, I found it lacking a little when I used it restricted dtl personally but with a loose mtl it worked a lot better. The airflow on this kit allows you to get around a medium/loose mtl draw when it’s fully closed so it is possible but it’s more set up for restricted to slightly airy dtl so I did find the 0.6 coil a little disappointing, it just didn’t have the depth of vapour or flavour that similar coils do.

The 0.16 coil was a lot better. It’s rated at 30-50w and it was perfect for me at 45w. Flavour is good and similar to others of the same type of coils. The vapour production is decent as well. The one thing that lets it down is that if you leave juice in the pod and leave it for a couple of days then it will leak, same as a lot of other pod systems.

The other thing I wasn’t so keen on is that the airflow holes are split under the ring. This leaves a little bar of plastic that makes the airflow slightly noisy, not a lot but I still wonder why it’s like that as with the split airflow it doesn’t open up as much as I’d have liked for the 0.16 coil. It’s like they’ve tried to give the best of mtl and dtl and just not quite managed it, leaving it too airy for proper mtl and not quite airy enough for a proper dtl draw. I’d have preferred if they had hit a middle ground and made it a simple restricted/airy dtl draw myself.

The Thallo is a nice simple kit though and I did like using it. It’s great for a restricted dtl draw on the 0.16 coils with the airflow slightly closed off and I must say that the battery life on it is really good. It would suit someone who’s dipping their toe into dtl vaping or a beginner who hasn’t enjoyed mtl.

This one’s been snaffled by the missus due to its ‘funky’ design (sigh).

Thanks for the review mate. Too funky for me. ;)

Good review @Gitchy
Well, almost all mainstream brands have now their own "Drag pod/mod". All similar, if not the same (if fact Voopoo plagiarized themselves :D twice!). People will decide and pick by its looking I guess.

A nice, good and simple option for those who want to initiate or try vaping. Why not.
