Hello all

New to this site trying to get some info.

I'm using smok V8 baby coils 0.4 ohm and I'm finding they only last a few days. When I've looked on the smok website says they should last a least a week. I'm not a heavy vapour and the wattage I'm using is relative low. I also find the cotton in the coils go black very quickly. I'm using a cool fire IV battery and I've only had this for less than a year. I charge it up fully but find it won't last a day. It's certainly got worse over time. Anyone any ideas how long these battery's should last? Can anyone provide any assistance please? Many thanks in advance.

As many people will state on this forum...SMOK is your problem...I went through the same exact issue, I got advice on this forum and bought a new tank and could not be any happier. I have a Freemax now and never have any issues with flavour or not lasting long. It makes the SMOK look like garbage. My suggestion is to save the frustration and money and purcahse a new tank. The freemax mesh pro is nothing less then perfect. I could not stand my SMOK coils tasting horrible and lasting 3 days so I gave up on it and I am glad i did.
But smok coils are a win or lose, sometimes you will get a coil that will last 1 week and the next time you will get a coil that last 2 days. Its a hit or miss with smok.

Many thanks for the reply. I've noticed the coils are very hit miss. Sometimes I can get a week out of them. Most of the time it's just a few days if I'm lucky.

Can you give any recommendations for battery's? Do you think the freemax will work with the cool fire IV I have?

Thanks again

I use Dual Samsung 18650 batteries on my X-Priv and they last two days for me and I am a heavy vaper. But others can give you suggestions who know more about batteries.
I am not familiar with the cool fire IV, but If your mod has a 510 thread connection it will fit. (most mods are a 510 so I am pretty certain the freemax will fit it)

I looked up your mod and it does have the 510, so pretty much any tank you buy will fit your mod no problem

Hi @Jake1983 and welcome to the Planet.

as said, smok is the main problem. in the last 2 years they have flooded the market almost weekly with new kits and their QC has gone down the pan.

i can also recommend the freemax mesh pro which is my number 1 tank so i bought another.
buying from the uk though is sadly a bit naff as you most prob will get the tpd 2ml version unless the site states it comes with a free bubble glass which will bump it upto 5ml.

the coolfires are great mods but sadly once the batteries start dying its time for the bin. with these high end tanks that take serious wattage it might be a good idea to get a new mod that takes 18650 batteries. buy 4 and just swap out when they run down and then charge the drained ones in a external charger.
if you do decide to upgrade mod and tank then just mention your budget and wee will point you in the right place for deals. i buy mainly from china at fastech and there are some good prices and ful size tanks.
have a look through post 5 for our hardware suppliers POTV Vendors & Recommended E Liquid Suppliers

just to show you what the full size freemax looks on the 100w coolfire it does have overhang.

If you want to avoid buying a new tank the small coils on this list will all fit your baby beast. The e-leaf ones at the top are meant to be particularly good.

I keep repeating myself on this tip for prolonging stock coil life:

Every 6 or so puffs pop the refill lid open and reclose it to let air in and aids wicking, you should notice the next draw more juicier, my coils last longer using this method, Smok coil cotton is too tightly packed and struggles to keep the juice flowing, this 'hack' works well for me and takes seconds when in the habit, I also use it for other brand coils.

Try it, you've got nothing to loose, let me know if it helps as I've only done it on TF V12 coils.

That said, if you are using a highly sweetened 'coil killer' juice your coil life is going to be a lot shorter, I used to use Vape Avenue L P Crust which gunked up coils within a day, I ended up squonking it instead.

I have a Cool Fire VI and found that the batteries would last me all day. What I also found was the 40w max the mod could achieve was not enough to power the new higher end tanks.

As has been said already maybe time to look at getting a new set up that you can run replaceable 18650s with.
