Morning all,

Been a bit impatient while waiting on my sqonker coming from fasttech, I went in to my local shop to get an rda so I can get used to making coils but they only had a few and they were too overpriced for a cheap bastard like me.

They did have this full kit with a battery for 25 quid so I thought "£15 less than the cheapest RDA for a full kit and battery? No brainer". Got it home, set it up last night but just used the coil and cotton already in it.

Seems okay and for what I paid for it, does seem like good value for money. A few people on here have said that the coils that come pre built are basically shit. Will the flavour be a lot better if I build my own coil? I don't think the ones in it now are terrible but the flavour isn't that much better than my regular tank. Have the same juice in this and my Uwell Crown and they're about equal which isn't a bad thing but I was expecting a squonker to have more flavour.

Is it the coils, or have I just been a tight arsed Scotsman and bought a cheap POS?

Cheers

Hiya and welcome to the slippery slope of expenditure that is squonking!
What you basically have there is a great mod that'll do what you need, with a poor atty on top.
It'll work, and it will be better once you have your own coil in it to your spec, but it'll never be great.
You've picked a good mod to learn coil building on, being as it behaves similarly to a mech but has protection built in (i.e. it won't fire a dangerous build) but make sure that you use this as an opportunity to get yourself a little grounding in coil building and ohm's law.
Don't worry about the atty too much, build on it, learn from it and there's plenty of decent, reasonably priced ones about these days when you fancy a change, especially if you aren't averse to the magic of Fasttech.

I wanted to stick to regulated ones for now, have a dripbox 160 that according to the tracking is now in the UK and with Royal Mail so hopefully I'll have that soon too. I've been looking at replacement RDAS for that and I think I'm going to go with a dead rabbit. This was just a cheap impulse buy and if it works for learning to build coils on I'll be happy enough with that. Had my first dry hit with it this morning, that was fun!

I haven't used a Dead Rabbit personally, but I hear good things. Looking at the pics on Google, I'd say it'd be relatively easy to build on, just make sure that your coils line up with the airholes in the side and you should be good.
And now here's the standard line for when I sort of know what I'm on about, but not really...."Hopefully, someone will be along shortly who knows better than I do" :2thumbsup:

I looked at so many I eventually stopped looking, it's either going to be that or a druga.

You've picked up the mod I started vaping on, nice little piece of kit which you can easily drop a better rda on.

The Dead Rabbit is a lovely little rda, really easy to build on with plenty of deck space for experimentation - it's 24mm though so it won't fit on that dripbox, but will fit on the 160 you have ordered.

For a simple 22mm rda that will fit on this dripbox i'd recommend the vandy vape pulse, nice simple postless deck and great flavour.

Picked up a kanger dripbox for my first squonk and haven't looked back since - really good choice!

For an RDA, i would recommend a wasp nano. You can pick one up from fasttech for under £10 and it is amazing, although you maybe able to find it in the UK for not too much more expensive. This is my most used rda currently

The drip box 160 you have coming is a good starter dual battery squonk mod, the atty that comes with it is the same as the one you bought on impulse and is not great but a good bit of fiddiling with your own coils and a decent vape can be had.
Points to note with the dripbox 160
it is also desgined for 22mm atties though you can put a 24mm on there will be a little bit of overhang at the front where the suonk bottle is.
the sqounk bottle is a bit on the firm side for me at least.
there is a feed pipe where the sqounk bottle sits on the bottom of it there is a brass bung designed to stop the plastic holder for the bottle from coming off when refilling the bottle its design does prevent you from completly empting the bottle there is always a little bit of juice left in it.
TC on the dripbox is a little low so if you like TC be prepared to bump up the temp a little bit extra 10-20 degrees

The dead rabbit and the wasp nano where both mentioned as i have both i can say they are both great rda's
The dead rabbit is more for big coils in dual coil mode giving you Clouds for days with good flavour look to be building in the 0.15 - 0.25 ohm range
The wasp nano is more for single coils in the 0.4 ohm range and higher giving you excellent flavour and a more relaxing vape.
Now you are into squonking be prepared to be spending lots of money on mech sqounkers, differrent types of bottles and more and more fancy rda's

eldest has got me a 160 and dead rabbit for christmas gonna be interested to see what all the giddy fuss is about. Never liked dripping found it a total PITA so it at least overcomes that hurdle on the other hand i do tend to leave mods lying around on furniture so gonna hope there are no leaks otherwise i'll be in bother

Cheers guys, hadn't seen any responses until now, for some reason my phone only lets me on here when I'm on WiFi in the house. The vape shop I got the dripbox from is next to the pub I sometimes go to after work, so I now have 2 of these! Amazon have been with my coilmaster kit, coil wire, cotton bacon and 2 little coil jig things. Tempted to try building a coil now but tbh, I don't think the coils in these when you buy them are that bad. Maybe that'll change once I've tried making then myself. Anyway, im off to do the dishes and have a beer while doing them!
