So as a total newbie to vaping, I've ordered an Aspire PockeX kit to start me off.

Now it says its a sub-Ohm... so curiosity piqued, I looked the term up.

Low and behold scary, scary articles saying how dangerous sub-Ohm vapes are and they could blow up and catch fire and now I'm worried.

So, here I am, a total dunce, needing your guidance Oh Educated Ones! Am I going to die a fiery death using this vape pen?!

you have nothing to worry about with the aspire pockex its a relatively small device in the grand scheme of things , As long as you don't do silly things like leave it on charge over night your fine .

I started with an aspire pockex very good starter pen.

Pockex is absolutely safe.

Sub ohm / MTL kits blow up when abused, misused and when they're unregulated and used by buffoons. There's probably more mobile phones blowing up per year than vapes.

The pockex is both subohm and "MTL"

There's 2 coils.

The 0.6ohm installed and the 1.2ohm in the box.

Hi @kay88 and welcome to the planet.

first off dont panic.
reading anything on the internet is always bad for you as there is so much scare mongering on their and usually its from the daily fail or other tabloids.

in simple terms
their are 2 main types of vaping
MTL or mouth to lung
this is similar to how you would smoke a cig. you inhale and then take down to lungs.
this type uses much lower wattage (average 10-14watts) so you can use much higher nicotine to ween you off cigs. i gave up with 18mg nicotine after a 37 year habit of 20-30 cigs a day. using a mouth to lung tank with high ohm coil.

DTL or sub ohming
this is inhaling directly to your lungs a bit like using a bong pipe or smoking a joint where you take a deep inhale.
these kits use much higher wattage but need much lower nicotine. the lower wattage for these is around 30watts and the average is around 50watts upto 150w depending on kit. i personally would recommend 3mg nicotine but some do use 6mg. its totally down to the individual.

ive not used a pocket x so best to have a look through some of these review videos to put your mind at ease https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=aspire+pocket+x+kit

there is so much to take in at first so never feel embarrassed to ask any question even if you think it is a silly question as it normally isnt.
there will always be someone online to give help and advise so ask away.

your welcome.

as Huggett said, The 0.6ohm installed and the 1.2ohm in the box. so the best of both worlds.

the higher the number the higher the ohm of coil so the lower the wattage so the higher the nicotine you can use.
got that :D
as this mod doesnt have a button to turn up/down the wattage the less to worry about.

best advise would be try a few different strength nicotine juices to see what suits you.
if you get a headache or feel nausius then just stop vaping for an hour. its not nic overdose but similar to too much coffee or red bull where you get a head rush.

i suppose technically it is sub ohm with the 0.6 in , but having used the thing as my only device for months on end it doesnt feel it compared to other devices .

I guess what i'm trying to say is its a VERY light sub ohm at best , I wouldnt go after it for a sub ohm e cig...

I see you have the same Ninja-Worrying skills as myself. There’s lots of new terms to grasp when starting out, especially if you head down the hobbyist route of RTAs, RDAs, squonking (stupid word!) - but Worry Ye Not - you don’t need to know any of that. I quite like the PockeX, although when I first got mine, I burnt the first coil because I forgot to put eliquid in it :oops2: It was briefly Worrisome, and tasted foul: however I was fortunate and escaped a fiery death. I think if you put eliquid in it, you’ll be just fine  Welcome aboard :)
