sucks big hairy balls?
Follow me, as i journey through times past, where the vape was not as dense as dw1986's fast receding hairline and we rocket on through the subohmsphere to the present day and the 100w + subohm tanks....from the kanger subtank, to the uwell crown and beyond......
this is a journey.....
Do you remember the kanger subtank? I do....i loved them when they first came out, and to a degree, i still do....cheap to buy, decent rba deck and the stock heads are very very good....but how does the daddy of the subtanks hold up to some of the newer incarnations?
The aspire atlantis never really did it for me....tank was to small, the heads killed any flavour at all, and i struggled to get a stock head to last longer then a week, the v2 was even worse, and what was it with the drip tip on the v2?
The aspire triton was even worse....again, the tank capacity was woeful, the flavour? well, what flavour? the 0.20ohm heads (to me) were shockingly poor, weirdly, the 1.8ohm head was actually better...but with the restrictive airflow it was aimed at the mouth to lungers....
Now, the delta2....now i still use mine on occasion.....yeah...the fill is piss poor, and unless you have a very thin needle to fill it, it WILL spill into the mouth piece, and can be prone to a few gurgles...but, the heads are good, the rba section decent and you can get a good vape from it. It lacks any real capacity, but the quality more then makes up for it....
Zephyrus...now, i liked the zeph, buy i know that not everybody did...it worked straight out of the box for me...but it seemed to lack in some ways...the build quality wasnt always great, the tank would always weep, and the 'o' rings were useless....but the vape was decent....
Now...ive saved what i think are 2 of the only real serious tanks that rival, in my opinion, the subtank for performance.....
The Uwell crown is a phenomenal piece of kit. Solid, well built, easy to use, easy to fill, doesnt leak and the performance is stellar. The heads seem to last an absolute age, and give as close to a dripper in flavour and cloud production as any other subohm tank ive used. Good for 75 watts without losing flavour, this is a tank if you want something to 'plug and play' I always pick this up to go to work with....Plus, the top filling is just a dream.....
Now the last one to mention is the Smok TFV4....now for some reason, this seems to divide opinion....but for me, this edges out the uwell crown...the options for the heads is just insane...want a single coil? got that, dual coil? yep....triple? fuck yeah! quad? for fuckssake man of course want a sextuplet coil? fuck me....its got one of those as well...and its not a triple in parallel....i opened up one of these babies and its 6 coils....and it goes upto 120 watts....it started getting a little bit to hot then the vape and the atty, so i generally stay at around 90 watts
The market is absolutely flooded with subohm tanks, and there a good few that ive not mentioned....and theres more coming out every week.....but for me, the uwell crown, and tfv4 really are "where its at" and although i'll continue to use my subtanks, there days really are numbered....
