Evening folks,

Just updated my VTC Mini to firmware V.3, and ther is a new setting that allows the adjustment of TCRs.

What are these settings and how do they work? As simple as possible please lol.

Also will i find a need to use these settings as i only use Ti an Ni200 wire for TC and they have there own mode on the mod!

Just a bit confused haha!

Cheers guys!

& Merry Christmas :) x

tcr - temperature coefficient of resistance, for the temp control, each different wire has a different tcr.

Really!? That's outstanding news. You shouldn't need it at the moment as your wires are already covered as you say. Should make it possible to use any current or future TC wire though, which is very nice indeed.

Yeah man, the SS mode has changed its name to SS316 too, unsure why like... Is that the best ss wire for TC or something? I will have to pick some up and give it a go.

Have you used it and would you reccomend it for TC? Quite happy with Ti & Ni200 but would like to try different options.

Presumably it's to prevent confusion as SS316 & SS317 have slightly different TCR's

I haven't tried SS as yet. @danb reckons it's not a worthy TC wire and he's some kind of Nobel prize-winner or something but I'm still going to give it a go. I keep meaning to ask if mods like the VTC mini's SS setting is designed for a particular grade of SS and whether the different grades have differing TCRs. I suspect that's the case and the mini was always set up for 316's TCR but I don't know for sure. At any rate, if they do have differing TCRs, that's what's so great about being able to input the TCR of individual wires. Pretty splendid development.

I love titanium. I highly recommend you get a hold of some StealthVape NiFe30. It's nice to work with, vapes really well and is the forum's current darling of TC wires, not without good reason.

Presumably we all like Niffy 'cause you don't have to work so hard with it, nice and soft without being too saggy when heated - that said I do like Titanium too, in fact I'm using it in the Heron V2...

Nife30 is one of the wires ive been meaning to pick up, il grab it when i get some ss, thats if stealthvape do ss? Dont think they had it when i last bought something. Been playing with steam engine and it looks like its best to get both 26 gauge & 28 gauge niffy if building both singles and duals. This correct in your exp?

Got a dual titanium build in my crius v3, flavours way above other wires ive tried. It was relatively easy to work with aswell with it having thevelocity deck.

It is a bitch tho, springyness, cleaning etc, i had two pieces cleaned last night for a fresh build in the rdta ready to coil went back over to the sink and the effin cat had picked it up an bailed with it haha!

Still looking for it.

Yeah, depends on whether you're building single or dual coils and what atties you're using. I only use dual coil builds and 28 gauge is fine in the RDTA and Velocity RDA but I find the 29 gauge very useful for smaller decks. It's still quite low resistance for dual builds so I find I mostly use 29 gauge.
