Not sure if this is on here already but....

The chaps over at CDMR Research & Consultancy,
are conducting a survey about Your Perceptions and Experiences of Using Electronic Cigarettes.

This is to run along some other research they are doing to better understand who, why and what they think of vaping compared with other ways of reducing the use of tobacco.

they really need as many UK Vapers as possible to complete the official survey.
No names or address, not a marketing stunt just good old information gathering, as most of the other research and statistics that are being quoted at this time are either out of date or from 3rd / 4t hand information.

So if you could all take a few moments to click on the answers it will help everyone in the vaping community.

Oh and you get a chance to win and iPad mini, and some discount code for completing, "that should give you a reason if nothing else"
Here is the info.

The BIG Vape Survey 2015.

WE NEED YOU!

Our Friends at the CDMR Research & Consultancy are gathering as much information as they can from UK Vapers,

We would like you to help them by completing a survey about.
Your Perceptions and Experiences of Using Electronic Cigarettes.

To thank you for completing the survey we will give you.
A chance to win an iPad Mini.

You are being invited to take part in an online survey about your perceptions and experiences of using electronic cigarettes
(‘e-cigarettes’)’.
Before you decide whether to take part, it is important for you to understand why this survey is being conducted and what it will involve.

Hmm bit of a funny survey that however have filled it in :)

Some extracts of what I said are here:

There has been various studies I have read that by using flawed test methods have managed to produce some harmful chemical compounds from vaping equipment that more than likely would not occur in regular use also some flavourings have been found to cause some irritation which compared to the major health problems caused by regular cigarettes pails into insignificance

I belive that studies into the health issues which could arise from using vaping as alternative to smoking should use realistic testing methods and that too much demonizing is put into the public domain yes I agree some flavourings may cause undesirable side effects so by all means some form of regulation should be put into place to assess and control the contents of e liquids I suspect the scaremongering is being done by tobacco companies panicking about a possible financial loss due to vaping cutting into their profits however flat out banning vaping will just cause a greater burden on an already overstressed health service

My thought exactly. I done it anyway, but I got the feeling it was tailored towards people who have simply used vaping as a means to quit smoking, as opposed to us who become a sort of 'hobbyist' vapor.

CDMR... Centre for Drug Misuse Research.

After having a quick scan of their website, I note that the main interest of this organisation seems to centre on drugs and addiction and I see there has been a bit of research done that relates to children.

Personally, I would be cautious of offering information to organisations without knowing the motives behind the data mining.

I wonder how the data gathered in this survey will be used and framed within any research/publications relating to 'drug misuse'?

Hmmmm.

A quick look at the survey reveals the following :

"This study is funded by Nicoventures, which was established by British American Tobacco to operate as a stand-alone business within the BAT Group. Nicoventures provided funding for this study to be conducted; however Nicoventures has had and will have absolutely no input to or control over the study design, implementation, analysis, interpretation or reporting. This study is being conducted entirely indpendently of Nicoventures by Dr Christopher Russell and his research team at the Centre for Drug Misuse Research in Glasgow, United Kingdom. Dr Russell alone is responsible for the analysis, interpretation and production of a final study report."

Funded by Big Tobacco.

Personally, I wouldn't touch it with a feckin barge pole.

Was going to point that out as well. A little suspicious of something funded by Nicoventures who obviously have a vested interest in the results.

Also why an iPad Mini as the prize? I'd rather an iPV Mini :D

Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace

I first heard about this survey from ECITA which was enough to make me suspicious. When I discovered BAT are funding it, the alarm bells started ringing. However, after further looking into it and this blog by the folks at NNA:
Vaping surveys and the importance of science.. - New Nicotine Alliance UK

I believe it is something all vapers, experienced ones in particular should get involved in. If we don't, Regulators will use the answers from the cigalike users it seems to be aimed at, to help shape legislation. So, we can either bury our heads in the sand in the hope that it does not effect us, or we can have our say and help steer it in the right direction!
