Review The eGrip by Joyetech - HD Slideshow

thanks pauly, interesting device.
Can I ask with regard to the juice fill latch/catch/door. it seems that if something can go wrong, it is going to be at that point...rattles, loose fitting bits...which will lead to leaks. or even unintentionally having it open at the wrong time. Open it too far, snap etc

Also, do you push the mechanism "up" to release the latch (towards the top of the device?) and if so, any thought on putting this into jeans pockets and having the door unlatch accidentally? I see a square rubber squishy thing to cover the holes..does this seem durable?

sorry for all the Questions, but the wife has taken a shining to it

No problem at all Vern :)
I like to keep the details light in my vids to keep the run time down, further questions are what these threads are for mate.
I've just had a fiddle with the door and I think it highly unlikely it would open by accident. It protrudes only very slightly, you kind of have to get your nail under the catch to open it (pushing the latch towards the top of the device)
It's a very snug fit once in place with no movement at all. The little rubber bung seems to be holding up fine and I'd think that a man of your abilities could conjure up a replacement bung if called upon :)
The hinge of the door is delicate though, if you dropped it with the door open it could easily get damaged I'd think.
I forgot to mention, it's not even necessary to open the door, you can just remove the head and fill it like a normal clearomiser.

Apart from the price of the heads and the non removable tank I think this is a beautifully made, perfectly performing little thing, a lovely xmas gift perhaps!!

Yes, the proprietary heads are a bit of a bummer but I'm going to get one of these. I'll just avoid using it for menthols and suchlike. Cheers pauly.

As promised, here's the breakdown.
After vaping some grumpys hooch for over a week this coil was deffo dead.
I took the head and screwed it onto an old aspire viv nova type base and pulled the cap off with a pair of pliers. Came off pretty easily:

As we can see the inner head is surrounded by a gauze like fabric strip:

looking into the head we see 2 coils stacked one atop the other, the ends of the wicks just poking through the slot in the head:

gently pulling the innards from the shell we see our coils are encased in a heat resistant shell:

and here's the money shot.
Gross.
I must add that I would never subject a pre-bought head that I'd paid for to grumpys hooch. I deliberately used the cruelest juice I had to put this head through its paces.

dunno if you can see there but the legs are soldered together.
It was way too engunked to pull apart from here neatly, it just disintegrated:

So it doesn't look impossible to rebuild but I don't have the inclination to do this.
Hope that was of some interest.
Have a great day,
Paul
