Not a week goes by without new results appear on the electronic cigarette, this object already adopted by nearly one million smokers in France.Samedi, the opening of the European Congress of Cardiology, which runs until September 4 at Amsterdam, the cardiologist Konstantinos Farsalinos presented reassuring about its effects on coronary microcirculation results, ie the operation of all the small vessels that supply the heart with oxygen and nutrients.

This Greek cardiologist, already the author of several studies on the electronic cigarette, compared two criteria, the maximum coronary blood flow and resistance of small coronary vessels to flow in 30 smokers and 30 vapoteurs, 20 minutes after the last cigarette. Not surprisingly, he found that the conventional cigarette reduces the maximum coronary blood flow (16% compared to a non-smoker) and a 19% increase resistance vessels to flow. In contrast, the electronic cigarette does not affect the ability of coronary arteries to oxygenate the heart. No difference in either the flow or the flow resistance was observed compared to the reference values of non-smokers.
