I see people talking about ultrasonic cleaning a lot, but what exactly is the advantage of it? My standard approach to cleaning is boiling water and that seems to work, or am I missing something?

Ultrasonic gets into all the nooks and crannies that a normal scrub sometimes misses....Basically it cleans all the bits you can't normally reach...I wouldn't be without mine...

Well I think it cleans well but mostly it's the fact that it's handy for DIY e-juice in mixing and reducing steeping times!

I'm gonna say something that might be unpopular, i held my tongue the other week on a similar thread but here it is:

Ultrasonic cleaners using water (any kind, hot or cold) will clean generic crap off of stuff and will get to places that normal cleaning won't but it will not remove machine oil. If you are using an ultrasonic cleaner for that purpose using water then yes it'll be better than just scrubbing it but to remove the oil completely you will need to use a solvent, just like industry does. Some will say that they remove all the oil fine using just water but most of us know that oil and water don't mix and considering how anal some people are about boiling cotton wool etc i'm amazed that they accept this as an effective cleaning method for their new pinoy atty.

Will it speed up steeping?

If by steeping you mean mixing all components of the liquid to a good level then yes, certainly better than shaking the bottle until your arm feels like it's not part of you. If by steeping you mean speeding up the chemical breakdown of the components of the liquid then no, for that you need time and patience. Ultrasonic will not break chemical bonds, sorry.

I'm not telling anyone how to do things and each to their own but i thought that i would highlight a couple of common misconceptions.

You can buy specific additives to break down any oils etc on your dirty component for using in an ultrasonic.....But I just use a small squirt of washing up liquid...It removes machine oil no problem.....might have to run it through a couple of times, but it does clean it up.


And as to steeping, It does not work.....only time and nature works....

i nabbed a 7000 from Ebay for £19, never tried steeping but it cleans my atties up lovely with a little washing up liquid.
It also buzzes and makes me feel superior.

One drop of fairy liquid and a little Milton; it's the dirt and bugs you can't see you need to worried about

I do a weekly clean of all my atties; great bit of essential Vaping kit.

Big glass of hot"not boiling " water add disassembled atties + steredent tablet ...et voila .....flavours and germs gone ...might need a longer soak for Dr Jekyll next time ..fucking crossed over and ruined a tank of peanut butter.good job its only home brew .burned out my aldi ultrasonic .kept hitting 10 mins over and over .didn't rest the piezo gidgit .we live and learn ..
