Something I've wondered about for a while is the possibility of using the vamo in 18500 mode. It would be a useful thing to me as I would be able to use all battery configurations in it and be able to check the voltage of all battery sizes etc.

After a bit of searching it seems that an 18500 tube has never been made for the vamo (why not?) but there are work arounds.

I came across a thread on another forum where someone used a chi extension but it made the vamo look odd. Someone else used a puresmoker legacy extension which seemed to be a perfect match apart from the different finish on the steel.

Does anyone know of any extension tubes that would fit on the vamo to allow it to be used in 18500 mode?

Anybody?
No?
Dust!

I've tried all the various different tubes I have for Dingo's, Rollers, Paps and a few clone mods (mainly Sigeleis) and none of them are right so at least you can exclude those.

Any Luck?

I couldn't agree more, I've Vamo now and the 18350 batteries just don't last long enough for an evening for me and with the 18650 tube added it looks like a steel truncheon, or as a friend commented in the pub, "You're supposed to blow into a Digeridoo, not suck on it!" :grin2:
Anyway, did you find one or any solutions to this question? If so, please let me know from where and what is was.
Cheers

Smaller Vamo = Fasttech Vamo Mukey Double Barrelled. Height 9cm as opposed to 15cm.

That's not quite what I, or I think the OP, meant.

The Vamo V5 (single barrelled) comes with two extensions of the same length, one is an interference fit (already machine pressed into the control head) which makes it readily usable with a 18350 battery, the second screws onto it to allow use of an 18650 battery or two 18350's, they are 35mm long.
Thus to accommodate an 18500 it would need to be 15mm shorter than both combined. Which would mean it needs only to be 20mm in length.

Many thanks for your efforts :-)

I know exactly what the OP meant, but seeing as 18490/500 vamo tubes are not available, then the double barrelled version is a suggestion for a shorter, more compact, vamo.
Even if an 18490/500 tube was available the overall length of the vamo would still be 121mm long.

Failing that, simply buy a Smok S.I.D for £40.

Hmm possibly get another tube, cut it down and press fit the bottom cap to it with the help of a plate of thin metal? Maybe that's not the answer you're looking for but I reckon it's possible.
