Hi All,

My brother is currently looking to upgrade his vape kit and has been looking around for a a bit.

He has decided to go with the Vamo V5 as it has VV and VW and from what ive read it detects what atomiser is on it? (Sorry if im wrong) Is this a decent bit of kit to go for?

He will be using the Kanger Aero Tank on it to vape with, anything he should be aware of before he buys it? Whats the best battery to put in etc etc

Also with the detection system, does this help tell you what Voltage and wattage you should use to vape? or can you just set it to change the settings automatically to save you the hassle when you use it?

Thanks
Phillip

I might be wrong but I believe that the Vamo V5 has a bit of a reputation for having soft 510 threads. Do a bit of a google on that potential issue. The Innokin SVD might be an alternative?
I don't have one but I assume that the V5 will just give you the resistance of the atomiser installed. Not heard about it deciding what voltage or power to use, that would probably be down to the user.

A Vamo v5 is indeed a good option to go for, just make sure you get the stainless steel one.

Other good options to look at include the SVD and the SmokTech SID.

Get whichever one you like the look of the most, or whichever one you can find the best deal on, they are all very similar.

As far as VV and VW goes. all of these mods will check the resistance of the atomiser that's attached to it. You set either VV or VW. think of VW like 'automatic voltage' you set what power level you like and the device reads teh resistance of whats screwed into it and works out and sets the voltage accordingly.

VV is saying "please send x Volts to my atomiser"

VW is saying "please use the right volts to get me to x power"

To start with set it to watts mode and set the power to 7 watts and go from there. If it needs more oomph nudge it up one setting and so on. If it tastes burnt or a bit too harsh nudge it down one setting.

Also with a Vamo v5 make sure when you get t that it is set to RMS output. (hold the left button for about 10 seconds till you see RMS on the screen, if you do the button holding thing and it comes up 'Mean' then it was already set to RMS and you need to do that again to switch it back) as standard they come in 'Mean' voltage setting which isn't very accurate.

RMS is much much better.

missed out the bit about batteries.

EFest IMR batteries are hard to beat, there are other better batteries around but for a starter kit they are about the best value reasonable quality ones you can get atm.
Also make sure whichever kit you get comes with a decent charger. NiteCore, XTar and EFest LUC are all good chargers to use.

Ohhh okay, i may have been getting confused with the more expensive mods which automatically do it for you! My bad!!

Hmm right okay ill have a look at the alternative, is there much difference in price?

This is going to drive me up the wall finding the right one.

Whats the best Mod for around 40-50quid which comes with the charging kit and a battery? Would appreciate some guidance as im not very clued up myself as ive never looked much into all this as i stick to a vision spinner and Aero Tank mini 3 haha

Cheers for that mate, have you tried all of the ones mentioned including the Vamo V5? Just dont fancy him shelling out all the cash only for it to be poor quality or fall apart etc in a few months as he is trying this out to cut smoking cigs out! So thats why i want it right first time.

Enjoyed reading that. Being quite new to it all myself the info on the vv/vw settings is useful. Much as I thought but good to see it written out in simple terms. And now I'm quite confident I'm using my new MVP correctly.

Been vaping for just over 3 weeks mate, my 1st was an innokin itaste vv V3, then was kindly given a vamo V2 and was so impressed with it that within a week i had the stainless steel vamo V5 and its bloody brilliant....cheapest place for the full SS vamo V5 is 'myepack'... Great service

Yes. Given that I sell them I test them lots first :)

If you're looking for a 40-50quid option then the MVP is about the best choice. It has the battery built into it and doesn't need batteries or a charger it comes with a charge cable you can plug into a USB plug and the battery will last about 2 whole days from fully charged.

A kit with good batteries/charger for a mod that takes batteries will set you back £60-70, but once you have batteries and a charger they'll work fine for ages and you have them already for the next mod.

Imo Innokin make about the best well featured mid priced mods around and none of them will fall apart. (and if they do just return it and the vendor will sort things out for you)

If you specifically want a tube mod then the best 3 to choose from are the Vamo v5, the SmokTech SID or the Innokin SVD imo.

they all do the VV/VW thing. It's VW that auto selects the power to use for you. There isn't some uber expensive device that will set everything automagically for you you have to at least set the desired power level. (Lots of the high end shiny really expensive gear doesn't even do that much. It's assumed that if you are willing to part with lots of cash for something like that, that you know what you're doing with it)

Though you could vape quite happily on any VW device by just setting it to 7 watts and then not messing with the settings on it ever again.

Also be carefull... 3 weeks ago i had nothing...... Today i have these:
