Lilia @Sourcemore sent me this to try out. I am not affiliated with POTV or Sourcemore, nor do I get paid to review things.
The Vandy Vape B3 MTL RTA
https://www.sourcemore.com/vandy-vape-berserker-v3-mtl-rta.html
I got a code to bring it down to $24.89 and it's V3BR. But, there is a sale on at Sourcemore just now and it's a couple of dollars cheaper than that so now's a good time to buy one if you're interested.
The B3 is a 24mm single coil MTL RTA. The outer airflow on the tank is set so there’s no airflow ring. It has an extension kit included to turn it from a 2ml RTA to a 6ml one. There are included 510 inserts so that you can change the airflow as you wish, without having to empty the tank. As always with their MTL tanks, Vandy Vape have chucked a lot of extras into the package.
In the box you get:
1 B3 MTL RTA
2 PEI Tube
2 Drip Tip
1 Glass Tube
1 Accessory Bag
3 Airflow Pins
1 Instruction Manual
2 Superfine MTL Fused Clapton Coil 0.74ohm
Style wise it looks a little more high end than the price would suggest. There’s a metal body with a tiny glass section when you first open the box. Branding is subtle, with a little B3 logo on one face. In the box there are 2 spare drip tips so you can use either of those to change the draw or style a little. One is a longer version of the attached one and the other even longer with a finned metal cone at the bottom that fits well to the 510 fitting in the tank. Also included is extra glass and an extension rod to make the tank into a 6ml tank. It makes it a pretty big beast but that’s the price to pay for bigger capacity. I like it bigger myself but I know a lot of MTL vapers prefer the smaller profile. Another inclusion is PEI glass (or Ultem as we all know it) for both configurations if that’s what you like. The deck is simple and easy to use. There’s a removable ring around the deck that I assume is to keep the wick in once you’ve set that up.
I started off just using the tank in the smaller configuration. I broke with my usual and used the included coil instead of a plain wire and it was nice. Building is easy and wicking is quite forgiving. You take off the wicking ring and just fire the cotton through cut it, then put the ring back on to make sure it’s all tucked in properly. One thing I did notice is that everything is on quite tight. The deck was screwed on solidly and I wasn’t sure if it was annoying or reassuring. Still to decide really. With the included coil it has a nice draw and I had a go of all the airflow inserts to try it out. I found the 0.8 far too tight, the 1.2 was ok but I like a looser vape so the 1.4 was the sweet spot for me in terms of a good MTL only drag. With the 2.0 insert I found it was great for the way I like to vape MTL tanks; very loose MTL with the occasional RDL draw.
Moving on to using it in the larger configuration I found it quite hard to disassemble. The glass is on really tight so out came the trusty pliers to get it off. The drip tip was also really solidly on. I think I’m more reassured than annoyed by the tightness of everything. It just felt solid. Fitting the extension was simple and the glass went on easily as well. It does make for a beast of a tank though but I like that as the capacity and size goes well with the bigger dual battery mods I usually use and I don’t have to look out a smaller mod to pair with the B3 if I fancy an evening of MTL. I know I’m probably in the minority though so some might prefer the smaller size to pair with their mods.
With the big tank on I used a simple round wire build and found it’s as good as the other MTL RTAs I have. Just a nice, smooth draw with good vapour. I always use a round wire build as that’s what I’m used to and makes it easier to compare. I’ve been at it for a few days now and I’m still trying to get the juice level down. It’s great to have a big capacity on a mass produced MTL tank.
Overall the B3 is a nicely made MTL RTA. I’m not amazingly keen on the small configuration as it doesn’t really let you see the juice level and it looks duff on my bigger mods. With the 6ml capacity in the larger set up it’s perfect for me. One thing to note is that there is no 1.0mm airflow pin so those who like a tighter draw may be left out if they’re not so keen on the 0.8, it’s quite a big jump from 0.8 to 1.2. I have noticed there is an option to order more airflow pins but again it’s just the ones included in the package, rather than extra options that were left out here.
