I bought two ego 1000 twist batteries and a kanger protank mini2 and a few aspire bdc's came with the kit.

have to say I prefer the draw from the aspire clearo, much less airy and a better flavour I feel so she's been using that.

Anyhow, the other half finds she coughs with the first draw no matter which technique she uses. It's described as a tightening of the throat which has to be coughed which in turn creates a mini coughing fit.

the vape is good IMO, not burnt or anything with a mild throat hit.
With the 1.8 ohm atty at about 3.4v on the dial it gives a very mellow hit esp with 12mg minion farts.

have tried 12 minion farts
12 squid ink
12 redlady
18 water melon squish - Vaper ccaper
then gave up as a bad job!
She smokes 30 a day Marlboro lights btw and wouldn't cough with my benson golds.

ideas greatly appreciated, perhaps the nicotine is too high? I find the 18 crystal menth keeps my nico bug at bay!

How long has she been vaping ?

Could be the pg/vg ratio, or maybe try a 2.4 coil till she gets used to it as it is different, as I will let my smoker friends have a vape on my mod and nearly kills them lol

I coughed when I first vaped and it is very common. Remember your first cigarette? I have smokers all the time trying my device of choice in the pub and the majority find it tickles their throat and they cough. It goes quickly in my experience if you carry on Vaping. As she is still smoking her throat is coping with two different experiences maybe? You would think that after smoking for years a suck on an ecig wouldn't give your throat any issues but for me it was about adjusting to sucking in a different set of ingredients. She may also have an intolerance to PG which isn't uncommon.

I get a real laugh letting smokers try my vaping kit, they always cough a lung or 2 up off their first inhale. One of my mates says he's going to switch to vaping soon(just got to convince himself to start)even though no matter what power the Vamo is on,he simply cannot stop the coughing. I intend to take up a variety of e-liquids @ different strengths & PG/VG ratios for him to try in a dripper until we find one that doesn't leave him unable to breathe.

Might sound daft, but try clenching the fingers of the LEFT hand around the thumb, like a fist but with the thumb INSIDE of the fingers. It stops the gag reflex(when you stick your finger down the back of your throat)

It also reduces the coughing fit when inhaling vapour(on some people I've suggested this,it works...not all though)On those it worked with, they quickly became accustomed to vaping and didn't need to continue the clenched left hand.

Hi there

I also had this problem, asked on here and had some great responses :2thumbsup: The way I got over it was to draw into my mouth before inhaling into my lungs. I was so frustrated but this really worked, I am now vaping like a champ, and have not had a stinkie for 16 days :woot:

I think it depends on the individual and the juice used sometimes. My local brick and morter are part of a chain and have their own liquid brand, despite being lab tested/made yada yada they always gave me a real mucousy phlegmy cough. I found another brand of cheap chinese liquid to give me a a dry cough if I chain vaped.

I've just tried some of the same juices you mentioned there also, squid ink also makes me have a bit of a cough bu it could be due to the throat hit being so strong for .6mg as hansels folly and crystal menth are fine. I also found butterscotch by Roar Vapor to give me a cough but their banana cream pie is fine.

I've pretty much deemed it to something that is in the flavourings in certain e liquids and left it at that!

This happens with my smoking mates too,i dont get how they can inhale a strong cig but when i tell them to have a 2 second drag on my e cig they cough a lung up.

It happened to me alot at 1st and I gave up,but then I found out about pg reactions and it sounded pretty similar to what I was experiencing,so I found myself some menthol 50/50 mix 1.8mg and it was easier but still had that coughing fit in the morning after the 1st drag,
Then I dropped to 12mg and 70%VG and now I can vape all day long without any hassle, nice throat hit but smooth at the same time :) try her on 70/30 vg/pg ratio.

And tell her not to try and talk when shes exhaling as that gives me the urge to cough sometimes

It appears to be a natural reaction that I personally didn't experience, I suggest using lower Nic levels to compensate as the harshness/richness of Nicotine can really make a difference. Around 5mg can supply enough nic to sustain the switch and will reduce the urge to cough.

Thinking back to it, when I smoked, got a cold and tried to inhale vapour via a steam bath I would often experience coughing for a while until my lungs got used to the change in air density/humidity.
