I just listened to that & my laptop survived without me punching its screen through in anger. It's like being treated as a child, the way the bbc always present issues & affairs, assuming the people are stupid ! Maybe they are for paying a shitty license fee !
I wish i knew less about vaping so i could be an ignorant sheep & then the whole thing wouldn't bother me so much. There are just too many subscribers to the 'yeah but be careful' brigade & by the time they make their minds up for themselves life will be over anyway....Or maybe this really is just the rehearsal after all !
A lot of Radio Five Live listeners wouldn't be that aware of vaping and certainly not Article 20, even many vapers don't know about Art 20. Peter Allen is not a bad broadcaster, much better he done this slot than Campbell who's rather patronising (to say the least).
It was all a bit lame, having said that I'm genned up and obviously didn't need all the background. The lady vaper made good points, most of the others were pussyfooting around the rubbish about the risk of Nicotine with no critical comment about the corrupt article 20 and what it really means to most vapers.
I've always said the more discussion the better ... the PHE report stated clearly that public perceptions of risk need to be altered, particularly amongst smokers. Too many believe nicotine is risky, too many believe vaping is just as harmful as smoking.
It's easy to make the mistake here that because the subject matter is vaping then the target audience is vapers.
It's not easy but it can be done.Is so hard to change public perception.
Look at the stats that show people's fear of crime going up each year despite actual crime going down.
