Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere - a quick search didn't bring it up ...

I was fact-checking after reading a Telegraph article and it led me to this article published in the bi-monthly magazine of the Royal College of Physicians. I believe it may follow on from the E-cigarette Summit in London last November and makes interesting reading.

The Telegraph article is here

That is refreshing and so good to see our message is filtering through :D

It's starting to appear - in the UK at least, let's disregard Stanton Glantz et al for a moment - as if we have mainly physicians in the 'pro vaping' camp and mainly politicians in the 'anti vaping' camp ... curious that ...

Hehehe, yes surprising isn't it. :30:

I was talking to a GP the other day, who was raging against any potential ban. Her views were based simply on what she was seeing with her own eyes, (or rather hearing ) -as in the improvement in people's chests after switching to vaping
It was so lovely to hear someone who has never been a smoker, with no ulterior motive utterly pro vaping because of what she saw happening in front of her. Said she was telling all of her 'hardened smokers' to give them a go
Made my day :D

Interesting read. Positive but more focused on the "quit or die" philosophy rather than the fact that many choose to recreationally enjoy nicotine, what they fail to grasp is that thosr who do choose vaping as a recreational passtime are unlikely to even consider mefical products unless they are exactly the same as what we currently choose to use. Its sad that this is so over looked by the regulatory bodies.

We all know that an ego/evod device will likely cut back any cravings in most people, but we are adults, we make choices, mucg like a nissan micra will function as well as a sports car for day to day use, many want a hot hatch or muscke car or big arsed 4x4.

Ecigs are much the same, and thats what is missed, they are recreational devices, thats reflected in what is popular amongst vapers, be it an mvp or vtr with a shiny clearomiser or when taken to extremes, a high end mech or clone of and a rebuildable atomiser, ots a choice of the heart as well as a functional choice, much like the choice of car you drive or clothes you wear.

*sighs theatrically*

I'll continue to tell those daft enough to say to my face "quit or die" that the only one going to die will be them if they don't shut the fuck up & go annoy someone who isn't in need of a huge dose of nicotine to calm them down & stop their violent urges to kill any ANTZ :P

Those were quite interesting reads, thank you for posting them.

I feel the need to show that chart again with regards to the quoted part here.

Although data for e-cigarette emissions are sparse, those available suggest that nicotine, propylene glycol, glycerine, flavours (sometimes) and a range of contaminants or products of the heating process, including tobacco-specific nitrosamines, carbonyls, volatile organic compounds and metals, are present in the vapours. Although less pure than the vapour produced by a medicinal nicotine inhaler product (such as the Nicorette Inhalator), e-cigarette emissions are much less hazardous than tobacco smoke.
