Wismec Luxotic DF Box with the Guillotine V2 RDA
Wismec just released their newest family member: the Wismec Luxotic DF Box Mod. It's a Squonker which fits two 18650 batteries. I received the Box Mod with the well-known Guillotine V2 RDA and I got to say: they match perfectly. The box I received also included an extra E-liquid bottle, two Clapton Coils, Cotton, a USB-Cable, User Manuals, a Warning Card, a longer mouth piece, some seals, an allen key and a regular 510 thread which enables you to use it as a regular dripper. But let's get to the details before I tell you my overall verdict.
Let's start with the mod:
The Wismec Luxotic DF looks awesome in my opinion. It's sleak metal design, compact measurements and discreet squonk bottle make it the perfect everyday mod. And it has already become my "daily driver". If you had a Wismec mod before, the menu will be no secret to you. It is simple and has the most common features like a drag counter (number of drags and time), supports VW/TC (NI, TI, SS)/TCR (M1, m2, m3), has a power output of 1-200 W, an adjustable timeout duration etc. The overall specs should not be hard to find out, so I will save you from that. Instead of the measurements: with 42.1*54.5*77.2 mm it is just slightly bigger than the Reuleaux RX GEN3 (39.3*48.4*74.3 mm). Don't get me wrong: it's not tiny, but for a dual Squonker with 7ml capacity it is the handiest design I've seen so far. The color options are black, green, blue and white. Obviously, I chose the black one: simply because it will look awesome with the greatest number of RDAs. But that's subjective.
The fire-button has a nice feeling, the silicone bottle is neither to stiff nor too soft and the chip in this thing is awesome: no ramp-up what so ever. And there is no rattle – almost no rattle.
Let's get to the Cons: The magnetic bottle cover sometime tends to rattle a bit, especially if you did not put it in place absolutely correctly, which may happen if you're in hurry. Also the battery-cover doesn't feel very robust when you open it. And this brings us to the biggest Con: the batteries and the squonk bottle share the same chamber. This means, that if you want to fill up your bottle the "old-fashioned" way, you will always have to remove the batteries first. Sorry Wismec, but that's just thoughtless. It's the most common movement on a squonker and you could have made it so much easier. On the other hand: by using a refill bottle which connects to your 510 thread this Con doesn't affect you. Regarding the Mod: that are all the negative points I could find. Maybe the minimum resistance in VW is a bit too high with 0.1 Ohm but I agree that this point is very subjective. In the end the resolution of the 1.3" OLED screen is… well it is a screen but don't expect anything fancy.
So, if you are looking for a kit that's going to accompany you the whole day, has great design and chucks huge clouds with the convenience of squonking: here you go!
The Guillotine V2 RDA:
This dual post RDA/RSA really is a flavour beast. And with it's continuously adjustable bottom and side airflow options you are as versatile as possible. Of course, you should adjust the height of the build to your desired airflow option. Personally, I like the side airflow better. Mainly because there is almost no drag resistance but also because I can fit a bigger coil diameter. The bottom airflow has quite a lot of drag resistance which I am absolutely no fan of but I have to admit that the flavour improves a bit. The juice well holds a nice amount of juice (I'd estimate it to be around 2 ml) and is almost plane so the juice can be sucked up evenly by the cotton. The top cap doesn't have any notches to keep it from spinning, so you can twist it endlessly. No Con in my view but I think worth telling you. The biggest Con are the posts though: some might like it, but I think if you have two screws per clamp, then why the hell would you add a metal plate to actually hold the coils? If you don't know what I am talking about, check the pictures. This makes it way harder to build and doesn't really improve the stability of it. It's not for absolute beginners.
But if I summarize my thoughts: If you're looking for a versatile RDA/RSA with lots of flavour and a nice, big deck section: the Guillotine V2 might be just what you're looking for!
Altogether the Wismec Luxotic DF Box and the Guillotine V2 RDA are a very nice couple! Especially the awesome measurements, it's endurance thanks to double 18650 batteries and the side/bottom airflow options make this a versatile companion for everyday life.
EDIT: Pricepoint, pricepoint, pricepoint!
Thanks to eyeball kid, otherwise I would have forgotten!
At 99€ I think this box is way too pricy. I've already seen the set to preorder at around 85$, which is better. Personally I'd like to see it at 75$, but that won't take too long and remember: Christmas is coming!
Best regards and keep on vaping,
