I have purchased some Sony vtc5 batteries an I have the efest luc s2 battery charger which gives u the option of charging at 0.5amps,1amp or 1.5amp should I be charging my batteries at 1amp? Thankyouplease:hmm:

Hi
I too have VTC5 batteries on order, and have an EFEST SODA BATTERY CHARGER which also has the 0.5 and 1.0 amp charging capablity. I would also appreciate further information on using it at the lower setting. I thought it was just a matter of slower/faster charging. Does the battery fair better at the lower setting?

i err on the cautious side too and charge at .5 amp also tried at 1 amp once and batteries didnt get hot but a bit to warm for my liking

Charging at 0.5 mAh apparently increases battery longevity so I charge at 0.5...

I charge at 2,1 and 0.5 amp... I asked the same question to the @Tubbyengineer and he said it makes very little difference to the battery life.. Hopefully he will be along to confirm this.. Or @Huggett as he has the same charger as me and he charges @2amp as well..

Spec sheet for VTC5s. They handle a 2.5A charge.

The whole charge them as low as possible is simply to preserve cycle life. They will be fine at a 2A charge but decrease how many times you can recharge.

0.5A preserves them the most, however a 1A charge will cut charge time in half & also do little damage to the cycle life

I charge mine HE4s and VTC4&5 in OPUS BT-C3100 at 1Amp and the only difference I see is that takes half time to charge them then at 0.5amp rate lol
new batts designed to be charged at higher rate and I can't see the point sitting twice as long and keep looking at the charger...
P.S. I saw somewhere that you can charge some of new batts at up to 4Amps rate... I might misread it so please do not try it at home... knowing you lot....
