Absolute F*&%$ng Disgrace

Yes I agree that manufacturers have some responsibility to issue their products in sensible packaging. However the burden here must lie with the parents. I made a big thing of giving up smoking and starting vaping to my kids, they had been badgering me for years to stop. They came to the shop with me. They understand that whilst the juices smell all nice and fruity that this is an adult only product. My juices are kept in a sealed plastic box on my desk and they know if they lay one finger on anything on my desk I will come down on them like a ton of bricks. Lots of adult items come in novelty packaging, it is up to parents to make sure that kids know the difference. Not the manufacturers or the government.

Thats all well and good but there is no point in making it attractive to children and look exactly like a bottle of pop.. this IS the manufacturers responsibility. That bottle hasnt even got a child proof cap...What is the need to put it in a bottle that resembles a pop bottle?? It makes no difference to the person vaping it...If the manufacturers dont tow the line then it IS up to the govt or the powers that be to do something about it..

One question.

I have heard there are a lot of clones and fake versions of Fantasi juice available on eBay.

I have bought a few bottles of genuine Fantasi in the past, and it has always been in the normal style of dripper bottle, with the child proof cap. I have never seen it for sale in a soda bottle, with the dimpled bottom and the non child proof cap, as shown in the photo in the OP.

Whilst the manufacturer may well have intellectual property issues with the logo, (which I believe they recently changed from being a flat out copy of the Fanta font), are we sure we are looking at a genuine bottle here, rather than something that someone on eBay has knocked up?

I can't find this stuff sold in that bottle, the only stuff I can find for sale in the UK is in a standard bottle with child safe cap. Yes the logo looks like Fanta, they have stolen a design concept and it does make a difference to the person vaping it. Looks and presentation are everything, it has told the consumer what to expect from the product on a sub-conscious level. As I said before there are lots of products designed to be for adults that use novelty packaging. For example...

How far do we take the 'plain packaging' concept?

The government can legislate and the manufacturers can make their packaging so bland that it gives the consumer no idea what to expect, but why should they? We live in a society so bound by rules and regulations that parents have no need to parent anymore as the nanny state does that for them. Kids need to be exposed to potentially dangerous situations or products, they need to be able to decide what is good and bad. I have some Shark Gummies e-juice, whilst it's box looks like it contains sweeties both of my kids understand that it doesn't, because I have done my job as a parent.

To be honest I feel like a right miserable old git sometimes .... but generally I find a large part of the vape industry absolutely embarrassing in the way it markets itself.

It reminds me a lot of how 'legal highs' we sold and packaged... I had to have a serious conversation with my kids back then about shit like this...

So you did your job as a parent.

I think the main problems are

1. If you drop or lose a bottle on the street and a kid finds it does it look good enough to drink? Which i belive happenedthe other day (My boy could open a child proof cap by 6 years old)

2. If you walk past a B&M window and see rows of drink shapped or sweet style bottles of juice will that encourage kids to want to start? ( not sure kids start drinking as they like the look of a hooch bottle)

Its a stupid idea and should be stopped, but where do you draw the line?

My kids think the skull shapped bottles are far cooler than the fanta one which they said looked liked someone had pissed in a bottle of coke.

1. If anyone finds a bottle of liquid on the street and they drink it they get what they deserve. Any child not old enough to know that shouldn't be on the street on their own. See my point about parenting.

2. AFAIK if a B&M shop is displaying juices in their window they are in breech of the TRPR regulations anyway. So as we already have legislation that covers that eventuality there is no need for anymore. If you see products you feel are breeching the TRPR and you feel sufficiently aggrieved then you should report it to trading standards.

3. The bottle shown in the original picture is not available in the UK. At least I have tried to find it for sale and can't.
