Adding Sour

Lorann tart and sour is pretty good but if youre after more sour then ditch it.
Along with citric and malic acid it contains tartaric acid.
Tartaric acid is what gives tartar sauce its tang and can taste slightly vinegary.

If you're after the sour part alone then as said above you need to be making up some malic acid solution.
I use 20g in a 100ml bottle and fill to the top with PG.
It takes a while to disolve and will need plenty of agitation and it needs to be warm to disolve and a warm bath will do.

@Gitchy
So tried it and not getting a lot, just a slight tang rather than sour and it is just slight. Not what I was aiming at. That was at 4% sour ball. Gonna double it and see how it goes, should be right to try in a couple of days. Hopefully it works. Have tried other sour myself and they were a fail with similar results to yours that were mentioned. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for testing it for me @Tazz

I'm not so bothered if it's slight but would ilke it to be consistent. Not sure if it's the same as menthol and ws23 with me though, strong at first but once you get used to it it's barely there.

I tried a while ago Purilum Raspberry Sour and that didn't even have a hint of sour to me, can't see how they even called it that.
I'm thinking this one I have now may be another fail. I've given that one I just tried yesterday a go through a full tank and that faint sour does what you have experienced, it's there then its not. Will see how the double strength one goes.

@Gitchy
So tried the stronger one over the last hour and it's a fail. Get an ok tang on the inhale but the exhale is off, tastes weird. They missed the mark on this one. It's definitely not a sour ball candy.

Tartaric acid is used for stabilising egg whites and adding to bread recipes with bicarbonate of soda and suchlike. Tartare sauce is a mayonnaise sauce with capers and pickled cumumbers and sometimes tarragon for eating with fish. It’s the capers and pickled cucumbers that make it taste tangy. You don’t put tartaric acid in tartare sauce.

Been racking my brain cell trying to figure out where i got this idea from.
Ive always thought malic acid came from acidic fruits before they became ripe and sugars started to form, citric acid came from citrus fruits, and tartric acid came from sour tasting things Doh!

I can see how it seems like a sensible assumption @StrawberryRipple . The wikipedia page for tartare sauce actually says it can have tartaric acid as an ingredient. I could be wrong but I don’t believe it, I’ve never heard of it, and eat a fair amount of the stuff.

i Think malic is apple
Citric is lemon
and tatrtaric is grape?

I know they are all present in fruit in varying degrees, but isn't that the signature notes?

@Gitchy
Hi mate, was browsing the site where I get my concentrates from and they have new in stock from Capella "Powerful Sour". Might try it when I next order a few flavours in a couple of weeks. Never heard of it before and cant find any reveiws on it.
