Airflow and its effect on flavour notes - still amazes me

It's the one thing that never ceases to amaze me. I find it as interesting today as I did when I first started vaping; how the volume of airflow can completely change the flavour notes of an eliquid.

How a single juice can taste like two totally different juices simply by opening up the airflow. Previously dominant notes recede and become subtle and subtle notes previously almost imperceptible can become the dominant driving force.

All these years later and I still find it quite remarkable.

Because I know where Im at , and like what I know n have my shit dialled in this does indeed get forgotten, mate of mine who I got off the stinkies, with a zlide decided to go the other way and close off the airflow a tad, well he raved about it....much improved flavour he says....just goes to show it can work both ways.

On the flavour front, I've mixed a batch of flavourless VG+PG, so when I return to my NET vapes in a few days: wow! :-)

Ive often wonder the same about air flow and how using different drip tips can change the flavour of juices.

Perfect example for me......... Dvarw 22mm with the 3.5 ml Tank. Good but not stellar with the OG Tip, swap Tip for an EVL Twin Tip and WOW!! Totally transforms a decent vape into an astonishing vape :worship: Flavour is far more focused and really pops now,

I'm guessing that the drip tip things is because it alters where the vapour hits your tongue. If I remember correctly (big if) then tastebuds are grouped in specific areas.

Edit:

Since looked on wikipedia, and apparently that's bollocks, lol:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tongue_map

But I sill wonder if the angle / airflow of a drip tip can generate differences in how the vapour is perceived.

Another Edit:

Further reading (of a tiny wiki page) says:
While some parts of the tongue may be able to detect a taste before the others do, all parts are equally capable of conveying the qualia of all tastes. Threshold sensitivity may differ across the tongue, but intensity of sensation does not.
