As you can see from the number 6 the mod making bug has bitten me. This box was made yesterday for my daughter-in-law who is fed up with TW batteries and associated chargers failing at every opportunity.

She wanted something not too powerful but simple.

You can see the 510 connector is just screwed thro the tin, held by a strip of 1mm brass sheet and secured with the locknut which has threadlock to hold it. She wasn't concerned with flush fitting atties and only uses CE4s and the iclear 30 which came as part of my MVP2.

The wiring is from a 12volt motorcycle power take off.

Keystone type battery sled and TP 4056 charger from China hot glued.

Don't think I could make it much simpler but I think I could have shortened the negative wire run by just earthing it to the box?? Will try that next.

The Altoids tin was bought from my local Chemist shop for £1.50 ... mints are nice too! Considering you can pay £1.98 for an empty 50g box what a bargain.

Before giving it to her I did make a plastic cover to protect the electrics with just the micro usb connector exposed and space for a 5ml bottle etc.

Acknowledgement below.

Tidy soldering too, I'm just counting up how many box mods I've made and then discovered alternative methods to their electrical setup. I then don't know whether to count the rebuilds in different ways as another mod or not. If they count as another, then it will be about 12 mods, if they don't count as another box built, then it's only 4. :D

Rebuilds

Thanks Chegs I had to buy a new iron as the old one was over 20 years old and wouldn't touch solid copper.

As for rebuilds numbers 1 and 2 have been totally rebuilt already and in addition I've stripped and engraved number 1. See pics. Number 7 is a plastic series 18350 with a buck down converter which has been changed many times already! Still I will finish it soon.

Good work fella. Nothing wrong with an altoids mod. It should how cheap mod making can be ;-)

Cover and USB Mini cable

Added a picture of the plastic safety cover and how the mini usb cable attaches for charging.
