Hi Folks,
Now then, DIY custards can be infinitely variable, and as easy or as complicated as you like. The bonus being is that you'd have to be very unlucky if you concocted a duff one.
I've tried a few different variations, from just getting a more creamy effect, to an assortment of fruit and fruit pie mongrel mixes, some using a combo of up to half a dozen flavourings, all of which are damn good vapes.
My favourite mix by far though is just Capella v1 @20% plus French Vanilla Deluxe @5%. I can vape this all day, everyday, and never get bored. It disappears far quicker than any of my other DIY juices. Maybe DIY is the same as everything else in life, simple is better.

Now I love to eat custard love it, in fact I have seen myself eat it cold straight from the can... I can not however vape it, it tastes like all those posh people custards not like the one we all want it to ( Ambrosia )... Now this is bad news for me as I now have about 25mls of VC v1 by capella and a about 9 mls of that crazy creamy custard sitting in my mixing tray wasting away........ I don't really like complicated flavours either my current all day vape is cola by capella and that was by mistake as I forgot to put the cherry in it lol.

This is a good message for us DIY mixologists.

It's too easy to overcomplicate things and be over ambitious. It's easy to underestimate the skill and craft of the juice makers who master the art of flavouring. They've spent hours, weeks, even months in testing and sampling. Unless you've the time and patience to do that and have the gift of being able to taste the miniscule differences, you're really wasting your time and your juice. It can also be deflating if you're not prepared to fail.

On the plus side, it's really very simple to make good juice ... juice every bit as good as stuff being sold at 5-10 times the price of home made. This is within reach of any vaper with just a little discipline.

I'm a firm believer in the simplest of approaches to DIY mixing, having said that though I'll frequently dump a few drops of this n that in a couple mls of PG, VG in an attempt to create something different. These drops of this n that are usually prompted by tasting a premium juice and trying to recreate it. :D

Canned custard? You sir are a heathen and should be burned on a pyre of trustfire batteries! ;)

Back on track, aye, capella custard with a few drops of vanilla or bavarian cream.

See, that's what makes juice reviews so interesting. Ambrosia custard is sugary sweet, doesn't taste anything like custard made the traditional way ... but then we all love the way we make it ourselves ... so when one reviewer says it doesn't taste like custard, you wonder what kinda custard he thinks is custard.
Another tick in the box for DIY, you can make it anyway you want.

Custard is the new Marmite.

To me, Capella tastes like the cheap packet custard you mix with water, which sounds exactly like what you're after. Posh it isn't.........but what do I know? Everybody on here has been raving about Matt's custard, but to me it tastes of nothing. It's like vaping VG, and my own custard mix is up to about 9 ingredients, and it's a straight custard.

I love to eat gourmet custard puddings. However..

There are times when a tin of Ambro' poured over a Tesco value Swiss Roll is more satisfying.*

My favourite juice so far (by a long way) is Digby's DMC80 but I have three bottles of the stuff lying idle because whenever I go to fill the custard tank I forget they are there and go for my own attempt at a clone instead. It's probably not as good but it's cheaper and it's *mine*.

* that's now my project for the weekend; come up with a recipe for that!
