Hi all,

Decided to take the plunge and upgrade from a taifun gt2 clone. This tank was recommended by everyone in every shop i visited so that it's what i went with.

1st build was great. Good flovour and good vapour.

Since then though.... Nothing. It produces clouds of vapour but zero flavour?

I have tried different size coils (all using 28awg kanthal) 2mm,2.5mm and 3mm. I have tried more wick, less wick, wick just touching the base, wick fluffed up and filling the base, wick with tiny tops all the way to a single wick running from one juice well tobthe other through both coils..... And just zero flavour. Tried raising the coils, lowering the coils, coils in line with air hole....or not. 4 holes, 2 holes...... Basically everything i can think of.

Anyone got any ideas?

I was in the same boat, still do find it a bit hit and miss now and again and haven't really settled on a standard build myself ..

What juice are you using ?

Have you tried spaced coils

I find with any new build and wick it takes a tank of juice before the flavor starts to come through properly

Fixed it - for me at least.
My issue was the lack of contact between coil and wick - with 28 awg and doing nice neat, compacted coils resulted in only have about 2 or 3 mm of contact on the wick..... so it was vaping that section and then burning faster than the wick could replace the juice resulting in no flavour, and if I pushed it - just a burnt taste.

I was about to have a go and simply doing a spaced coil with 28 awg to try and get some more surface area in contact with the wick..... and then remembered that I do have a small reel of 32 awg kanthal that I bought before opting for 28 awg on my other tanks.

So I thought I would have a bash at doing a twisted. The whole point of which is (as I see it) to increase surface area. So I did 2 strand initially but still looked very thin so doubled up again and ended up with a 4 strand twist of 32 awg. Did a 6 wrap coil at more or less 3mm (using a lollipop stick as a guide lol) tidied it up but still leaving tiny gaps between the wraps rather than fully compacted.... and finally, the flavour is back.

So along with coil size, height, position...... and wick thickness, cut, and juice basin placement..... also consider how much contact your coil has to your wick!

Fussy bloody tank!

Rebuilding, eh? Some say there's no art to it ...

If you fully tighten the basesometimes the air holes dont always line up with coils. So keep the bottom knurled section tighened fter putting on the mod,, then back turn the section with the the holes till you can see the coils. Makes a big difference. You can pretty much buck turn it a full turn without it risking leaking. A torch or phone is handy to shine in the hole to see if air holes aligning with the coils.. You can usually tell if they aren't aligned as theres hardly anyvapour and flavours poor. Using to much wick and filling the cup bit for the juice gives me less flavour also.
