A while back my Aspire Nautilus took a turn for the worse. The rubber grommet in the lower contact pin finally wore out and it caused all sort of issues for me and my mechanical mods. uploadfromtaptalk1394743898719.jpgIt seem to fire on its own and ruined a few of my batteries. At this point, I was ready to throw it away. The first picture shows the grommet in question. As I removed the pin the grommet finally came out revealing how much it had degraded in the time that I have owned it. uploadfromtaptalk1394744156072.jpg After it was fully out, I recognized that it looked familiar to me, then it occurred to me that I had this part in my collection of mod parts. uploadfromtaptalk1394744395321.jpg Since I've been an Aspire fan boy for some time now, I recognized that they used the same rubber grommet in the Aspire BDC as they did in the Nautilus tanks.uploadfromtaptalk1394744569741.jpg So, I dissected an old aspire coil to remove the grommet and attached to the Nautilus pin. It fit like a glove. uploadfromtaptalk1394744713817.jpg re assembled my tank and now I have Two working Aspire Nautilus tanks to vape on. uploadfromtaptalk1394744781332.jpg

Yes, I've seen that video and no, I have not tried it. It doesn't look too complicated but the say the road to Hell is always paved with good intentions. Since the Aspire Nautilus coil is a lot larger, I'm looking forward to someone else doing a write up. :)

I could try..for a laugh but I warn you, I tried to rebuild a head on a Kanger protank and it leaked everywhere!

Speaking of Kangers, their little rubber grommet in their coils will work as well. It's a bit longer and it may punch through. But it will work on an Aspire. uploadfromtaptalk1394747835296.jpg

Excellent info on the grommets! I'll save my dead protank heads just for the grommets now, in case my naughty starts leaking.

In answer to the other question - I've just replaced the coils in my naughty with a microcoil, the original gave up the ghost this morning and I couldn't get rid of the burnt taste. Pulled it apart and it was a train wreck in there!
10 wraps on my screwdriver gave me a 2.2 ohm coil, I was aiming for 1.8 but it's a good fit, and with cotton wool wick it vapes like a dream on my Vamo.

Next time I do it, I must remember to get a camera out... but following the instructions on Rip Tripper's video was how I did it. Apart from the blowtorch (haven't got one) so I used a gas ring on the cooker. The whole job took just inder 10 minutes, I'm quite pleased as it's my first coil building experiment :)
