battery charger advice

I`ve just taken delivery of a new Vapcell U2 battery charger and the instruction booklet mentions overcharge protection, am I safe to believe that this means auto shut off when the batteries are fully charged?
Also could anybody tell me if the charging amperage is auto selected, the booklet says to press the power button to alter the amperage 0.5a/1a/2a but pressing the power button does nothing.

The unit won’t switch off, but it stops charging, when the battery is full.

if you use the Mode button you can select charge current. But, it can only charge one battery, at a time, @2A and then only 21700 and 26650. 18650 can charge @1A and .5a for 13650. All batteries can be charges at any voltage, below that mentioned above.

Thanks for that but the mode button on my unit just selects which battery type you`ll be charging. I`ve had 2 brand new molicell charging for 2 hours and the display is showing 25% charged.If getting the charger to work is this much fun can't wait to start on the mod.

Just put the batteries in, and let the machine sort it out. It’s usually batter at it than us, anyway

It may show battery types but, once set, it’ll charge any compatible battery at the rate chosen. I'm fairly sure this is covered in the instruction. With a list of batteries and the max charge rate for each accumulator.
I’m not sure how fast you think Lith ion batteries charge. But 2hours doesn’t seem much for, in a charge cycle for 2 batteries at .5A or 1A come to that.

can I suggest you spend a bit of time reading the instructions. This is covered there.

charging your batteries at very high amps, ie fast, really eats into the batteries overall life span.
Unless I’m really stuck, I choose .5A to charge all my batteries. And can’t recall any occasion I’ve charged at 2A.

Do yourself a favour, as soon as you fit a battery or batteries in a mod - put the next ones you intend to use in the charger and only use fast charging on the occasions when you screw up and forget.

It's always faster to have a charged set ready and waiting.

For posterity, the final part of charging only took about 45 minutes, so maybe 2 hours 45 minutes all told to charge 2 x Molicell 26 A @ 0.5 Amp in the Vapcell U2.

BTW never did find out what the power button does, maybe it`s only used when charging single cells.

Sounds about the time it should take charging at 1a.
To estimate time needed charging at 1a will charge 1000mah in 1 hour. 2a will be 2000 mah in 1 hour and 0.5a 500mah in 1 hour.
The lower the charge the better it is for the batteries but xharging at 0.5a just takes to long. I use 1a most of the time and 2a on odd occasions when time is short.

One thing I noticed with chargers. Once it says fully charged, put them back in again and you get another 10/15 minutes charging (dont leave them alone be in front of the charger etc) since I have done this they seem to last a bit longer??
