Best cig-alike for elderly newbie?

You could recommend he tries a disposable like an Njoy King first to see if he likes it, that way he won't have to pay out for a rechargeable unit if he decides he doesn't care for it.

I know my dad, and much like me, his addiction is less about the nicotine delivery, and more about the oral fixation and the ritual; he needs something he can hold between his fingers while he's doing other things. I use a tank system myself, but I still like my cigalike when I'm reading a book, or having my morning tea, even though I don't use any nic.

I think you can get a lot of ritual and oral fixation from an ecig. But I reckon there's more chance he'll get frustrated with those cigalikes. If he could see some of the fancy metal stuff and how much 'smoke' these things produce it might just spark some interest. Older people love new hobbies, try to sell it on that angle.

So I've finally had a chat with dad to sort out what he can do, what he'll try, and what he has more chance of sticking with. He's tried an automatic battery cigalike now and found he doesn't always have the breath to get it to trigger, or at least not long enough to get a satisfactory draw. (He has COPD - and even his nurse agrees vaping at this point is gonna be better than the stinkies, and better for her, since she won't be exposed to his second-hand smoke.) He's open to trying an ego type. He's not terribly strong, and shakes a bit, so he'll probably be better off with something fairly lightweight, and not too fiddly to refill or plug in to recharge - plus I suspect the more dicking about he has to do, the more likely he is to just light up a cigarette.

Any suggestions for battery and tank? I'm buying it, so price is kind of a consideration, as well. ;)

Edit: also, suggestions for a tobacco flavour that might suit a Winston smoker, without too much harshness/throat hit to it?

I should also mention he doesn't have a computer, so a kit with a US mains plug included would be a plus.

I don't know too much about this stuff, but as someone with severe lung issues, I use an EVOD and have found that excellent. I also have strength issues and I find it easy enough to screw into the charger. I also find that I have the breath to get a decent throat hit off it without causing me too much hassle. They're lightweight and I wear mine on a lanyard so that it's always there when I need it.

As for ease of use, I found it hard to get started but I hadn't slept in like 36 hours, was tired beyond all measure and cranky too so it probably didn't help, but talking it all through with a friend got me started with only a few bumps.

As for tobacco flavour, I started on Mystic Original Tobacco, I was a L&B smoker and have found that I like that one best, not too strong, not too harsh, but I do also like the Hangsen impulse flavour that is a little less harsh. Like I said though, don't have much experience with it so take my advice with a grain of salt. As someone who also shakes a lot, I have found it light and easy to use without much struggle.

Hope that helps and hope he's able to find something that works for him!

(Please no comments on how I shouldn't have smoked/shouldn't vape b/c of my health issues, well aware of that!)

My dad is in his 70s and was a 40 a day man. I bought him a couple of simple ego batteries and a 2 mini protank's and he has never looked back and actually prefers it now to the analogue's. Being a heavy smoker he uses tobacco flavour juice at 24mg and that gives him just the hit he needs. The problem he has is that he cannot refill it due to shakes. My mum does this for him as she is used doing her eye drops. Would it be an option to get someone else to fill it for him? Perhaps he could have a few tanks lined up and then just swap it over when it is empty.

His health has improved dramatically in the 4 weeks he's been vaping. He was getting chest pains, breathlessness and a bad cough. All these are now gone and he claims to be sleeping better too. Plus the fact the whole house doesn't stink of smoke anymore and my mum isn't passive smoking.
