Brilliant tutorial, very detailed and user-friendly. I've been wicking mine exactly as you do (even down to the 28G kanthal and muji cotton), except I wasn't cutting the top of the wicks at an angle which makes so much sense! I have a slightly crappy build in at the moment which isn't wicking as well as I'd like - think I'll give the top cut a try and see if a wick haircut is what the doctor ordered
